"Our stay at Spatia Comporta was wonderful, largely thanks to the incredible staff. From before arrival, they shared property amenities and activity suggestions, and once we arrived, they took care of everything from arranging car services, handling in-room needs, and even picking up items at the convenience store in town. The property itself made the stay just as special. It never felt crowded (we may have visited just before high season) and the property is set in a quiet, peaceful evergreen forest. It had such a calm, restorative feel. We stayed in one of the Cabanas and loved having our own free-standing accommodations. The outdoor sitting area and shower were welcome touches. The pool was heated and very comfortable, and pool staff were kind and attentive. Breakfast was a highlight every morning. We also had dinner on-site, including at Nesto. Everything we ordered at Nesto was excellent. The staff were friendly and genuinely curious to hear our thoughts. Standouts included the Colada Punch and Hazelnut Old Fashioned cocktails (the best drinks of our trip), the lamb samosas and whole fried seabream. The Salmon Uramaki with peanut butter was an absolute favorite. We had two minor room issues (HVAC and plumbing), but the staff resolved both promptly and sent over a charcuterie plate as a gesture of goodwill. We had great conversations with many of the staff and are already looking forward to coming back!"

Herdade da Malhadinha Nova - Relais & Châteaux

"Heaven on earth. Absolutely unique and amazing stay. From the welcome sightings of the stork nests to the view of beautiful horses calmly standing by the lake I fell in love with the environment. Our check in was fun and very enjoyable. Perhaps the welcome wine glass made the experience that more enjoyable. Great friendly staff that gave a great overview of what the Herdade had to offer. Regret only spending one night but we can’t wait to go back and take full advantage of all that we missed this time. We stayed in the “Casa de preda” and had our own private little pool and unobstructed view of the wineries and landscape. The little details of the embroidered linens with the Herdade logo and all the food and drinks that welcomed us in our beautiful contemporary house was superb. The amenities were top notch and all the Baobab candles made the place smell so good. The music playing in the background when we arrived to the room so cool. So all senses were taken care of and an instant calm and relaxation ensued. The restaurant was awesome as well. The food and wine were outstanding. The “egg rice pudding” was the most beautiful and delicious dessert I have ever had. Love the family story and I got the coffee table book of “Malhadinha , The heart of Alentejo” on display in my living room in California to reminisce of such wonderful and magical place. Having been born in Alentejo , this Herdade encompasses the spirit and essence of this cultural rich area in Portugal."

"Everything about the stay was more than expected. We were so impressed with the staff (and we don’t speak Portuguese) upon arrival, that we immediately booked a second night! They treated our dogs great, brought a dog bed to the room for them, allowed them at the pool (there was another couple with a dog there too!). Small bar at the pool, a second building with more rooms and amenities opening soon, the groups are beautiful and it was so peaceful and relaxing. Wonderful breakfast….will definitely go back!!"

Barrosinha Hotel

"Overall, the hotel was lovely. The room was clean and had everything we needed, although if you need an iron you need to request the whole laundry service. The staff were so helpful and really friendly, nothing was too much trouble. It is in a quiet area near the river but hard to walk anywhere from it. Only a short drive to Alcacer do Sal. The pool needed cleaning along the bottom and there was a long trail of ants along the corridor until our final night. The breakfast was delicious, a selection of cooked food, pastries, fruit, cold meat and cereals although most days there were a couple of bits missing, not that this mattered too much. Dinner in the evening was superb. Everything cooked to perfection and staff were very attentive. I would be happy to stay here again but maybe better for short stays"
