"Outside of the property very dirty. Surprisingly, even the entrance to the office glass door and surrounding glass and handle very dirty. Inside the entry way are to use machines could be cleaned. The whole area needs TLC. The one flight of stairs to the second floor all day yesterday and today at check out had what appears to be throw-up which was already spreading along the other steps. So in and out of our room we didn’t feel clean we felt yucky. I saw black spot stains on my son sheet, he managed to toss and turn and I saw the mattress cover bigger black and yellow stain. My husband after showering said he felt dirty, I smelled his towel he asked me to and it’s smelled of like old oil. Mine was ok. Luckily, we had two towels of our own. The double beds I think was not queen but full size. We managed and made it work for the few days. We had a $49 dollar and change rate since Friday. But I still expected better!"

"The property is new and bare bones. We didn’t expect much at the price point but it was still a let down, The room felt hot and moist and smelled a bit like mildew. The sheets were scratchy and the mattress was very uncomfortable. There was rarely anyone at the front desk and if they were they didn’t make eye contact or say anything. We booked two nights but left after one due to very uncomfortable nights sleep."

"The property was exactly what we hoped for: beautiful landscape, great location, a comfortable setup, and thoughtful amenities that made the stay feel easy from day one. We really enjoyed the private river area, comfortable beds, cold A/C and easy check-in/out. Just a couple things to note: the house is on a slope, with several stairs to climb to get to the front door. Also, there is not a fenced area for the dogs."

"Clean space with beautiful views and very quiet neighborhood. Parking was tight but manageable. One restroom but worked for our crew of 3 adults and 3 kiddos. Super close to the wedding venue we were attending at Old Town. Also very close to San Marcos where there are very cool swimming holes. "

"Picture this: Your grandparents (or maybe your great grandparents) passed away and everything in their house was left just as it was. This is the House on Cox Hill. Their clothes were the only things removed. There are rusty metal furnishings inside and out. Broken appliances with a hand written “Sorry” sign. Musty smell throughout. Books from 1922. Same old furniture, towels with large holes in them, no soap in the showers. Three icemakers that don’t work (2 of them in the 2 refrigerators.). Nail clippers sitting on the table in the study. Dusty fake flowers in the bedroom fireplace. Wiping up some spilled water on the kitchen floor resulted in a very dirty paper towel. Old worn out pots and pans, some of which I would not put my food in due to the coating peeling off. Kitchen cabinets with the finish almost gone. Yes, this is the House on Cox Hill. It is way beyond charming!"
