What to wear on a flight:

• Your aim here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Choose a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to take a jacket in case you get chilly in the cabin.
• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Make a point of walking around the cabin or do some simple exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.

• Security personnel first need to see that you have a valid passport and matching boarding pass before you're allowed to proceed any further. Have them ready for inspection.
• The X-ray machine is up next. Remove anything on you that is likely to set off the alarm. This includes things like headphones or earphones, as well as your coat or jacket. They'll need to be placed on the conveyor belt for screening.
• All your electronic gadgets, including your phone and laptop, must also be scanned separately.
