COVID-19 may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn’t shut down our passion for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to handle travel’s new challenges:
- Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before committing to a flight. Also check if there are any special conditions you’ll need to follow on arrival, such as taking a COVID-19 test.
- You must wear a face mask at the airport, including at security checkpoints. Be prepared to adjust your mask for ID verification when asked.
- Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it straight on the scanner yourself. When that’s done, hold it up for inspection.
- One liquid hand sanitizer container is now permitted in your carry-on luggage. It must not be larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you’ll have to take it out of your bag for X-ray screening.
- Empty everything from your pockets, like your keys, phone and wallet, and place them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
- If you’re taking food on the plane with you, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
