Small but comfortable, well maintained, and equipped vacation rental. Wonderful views from the spacious deck and plenty of wild life to sit back and watch. Great time.
Loved Distant View! The view and the wildlife was amazing. Close to downtown Fredricksburg but out where you can relax and here the birds and quietness. Will definitely stay here again.
We loved our stay! Owners attention to detail did not go unnoticed. We really enjoyed the view and the deer experience. The baked home goodies were amazing.
We loved everything about our stay here! Beautiful views, quiet, relaxing, lots of nature while not too far from local activities. We have stayed many times in this area and enjoyed each trip; but, this was, by far, our best experience! We will be back!
The owners really thought of everything. We had the full B&B experience. They even had a zip line set up for us to feed the deer! The breakfast is excellent and the patio provided an excellent outdoor experience. The neighborhood is beautiful! Will definitely be back!
The B&B was perfect for our anniversary stay. The views are spectacular and those sunsets will be the thing I miss the most! The deer feeder is such a sweet touch and awesome to experience. The wonders thought of everything we may have needed to make it a cozy stay with my husband.
Breath-taking sunset view. The bottle of wine and a basket of the best snacks ever were so tasty and perfect. The hosts thought of everything. The fireplace didn’t work, but the cute little fireplace DVD was a sweet little touch. We were obsessed with the birds (even cardinals and bluebirds!) and the deer. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Can’t wait until next time!
We came here to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I was initially sold on the views but this Vrbo post does not do this place justice. As soon as we got here, we felt at home. We loved feeding the deer and watching the bird feeders. The sunsets are amazing and you can see so many stars from the balcony! No need to drive all the way to Enchanted Rock for stargazing. It’s very close to town so we’re were able to travel back and forth with ease. This place is perfect and I’m so glad the hosts share it with us so we can experience their oasis for a little while.

Absolute Perfection
My husband and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary and we wanted to stay somewhere out of town, but close enough to enjoy all that town has to offer. Distant Views was perfect: peaceful, private, beautiful, everything you would want from a hill country trip.
The space was clean, homey, nice without being too fancy. Just a wonderful feeling of home. The snacks in the fridge and on the table were so welcome and so sweet. The bottle of wine was the perfect welcome gift. Our favorite part was watching and feeding all of the animals around. Just amazing.
We will be back and we have already told many friends and family about it.
Beautiful place very clean with all the amenities needed. The host/hostess provided a nice welcome basket including a bottle of local wine. We loved sitting on the patios overlooking the valley watching the wildlife and sunsets. Such a relaxing and peaceful setting. I would highly recommend staying at Distant Views.
We absolutely loved our stay here. The pictures on the website don't do this place justice, and they already paint a very pretty picture.
Highly recommend staying here if you love picturesque views of hill country, sunsets, and wildlife.
So relaxing! Beautiful view of sunsets. Deers were so fun to feed and watch! Loved the birds that visited often!! Peaceful and a great reset from the busy life.
Truly a wonderful stay on so many levels. Amazing hill country view. The wildlife was so charming. Feeding the deer with the trolley and dropping handfuls off the deck was quite entertaining. The bird feeders were filled with cardinals and close to a dozen humming birds. The attention to detail inside was top shelf with a complimentary wine, tasty banana bread and snacks. We will definitely have to return to this amazing place with a secluded feel just a short drive to the fun of Fredricksburg!
Distant views was the most beautiful, amazing experience. The hosts Gene and Lyn are the sweetest. They have thought of everything possible that you would need. Fedding the wildlife was the best. Thank you for sharing your beautiful views with us.
This quaint property was perfect for a getaway to Fredericksburg! Location was out of town but easy to access town and many wineries. The house is located on a property with the owners house but still has privacy. The bottle of wine and homemade banana bread were a sweet addition as well. My only disappointment was that the fireplace was not working.
My husband and I stayed here and it was perfect! 7 miles outside of town, no hustle and bustle. The zip line to feed the deer is genius! The kitchen is stocked with utensils, there’s a mini fridge, and comfy couch. All you need to sit back and relax! The sunset on the deck is beautiful. Gene and Lyn truly have a piece of heaven. Rent this space, you will not be disappointed!

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
There are not enough words to describe how amazing this place was. It was definitely the main attraction of our trip. The owners shower you with a great spirit of hospitality providing a clean, organized, and well kept place that feels like home. They also provide a delicious daily continental breakfast the gets you going in the morning. A wonderful bonus is a beautiful view of the glorious Texas Hill Country filled with wildlife seen every moment you look out your room. This Heaven on Earth leaves you never wanting to leave.
My husband and I sought to escape the bright lights of the city and go in search of TX wines. This property fit our needs for the days we were seeking. The unit didn’t have a working fireplace and we were gifted a bottle of wine in exchange. The property was comfortable and quiet. Easy to come and go.
We loved our stay at Distant Views. We were pleasantly surprised that our expectations were far exceeded- and we had rather high expectations. Like others have said, the zip line deer feeder was such a delightful treat. The deer that gathered every day were so fun to watch and we looked forward to seeing them in the morning and evening. The location is perfect- outside of the main town but close enough to get back into the heart of the city quickly. The baked goods were delicious and the space was super comfortable and still had a sense of luxury that was so special for our 26th Anniversary. We will certainly return!
My wife wanted to get away over the 1st couple of days of her Thanksgiving break from teaching, and we had long been trying to find time to get down to Fredericksburg to see the National Museum of the Pacific War, so I started looking for a place to stay in the area back in early September. Unfortunately, even then, normal hotels were booked solid or overpriced for their amenities. I started looking on AirBNB and VRBO and found the Distant Views property and decided to reserve it. It was a great choice, and my wife was thrilled with it. It is quiet, private, and well-equipped for a couple of days of relaxation away from our busy lives, but still close enough to town that we could come and go and not feel like we were spending our trip driving around. There is a large herd of deer that live in the nearby woods and come out periodically. The owners provide food that you can give to the deer (either by a zipline or by throwing it off the balcony) and seeing them up close was my wife's favorite part of the trip. Overall, this was a great couple of days away from our normal hectic schedules and we enjoyed the cabin.
