Get-away cabin
We really loved the cabin on the creek. It's really quiet and peaceful. And there are things to do not too far away. The water heater wasn't working well so they came out and put in a new one. Awesome owner!

Fabulous retreat
I just wanted to get away from everything with my kids near a River we could play in. I wanted to be able to cook and relax. We felt so at home here. There was nobody in the other cabins on the street. It was clean, and the fire pit was great! My boys could go up and down the hill easily. For me it was more challenging, but they knew to e careful and I felt safe letting them enjoy the River while I rested at the fire pit or cooked inside. Thank you so much. The washer dryer worked great and everything was thought of. The beds were comfortable. I would stay again.

Beautiful property!
This cozy little house is in a great location - far enough away that it feels private but close enough that you can still get things you need! The property was beautiful and the sound of the river was comforting. The porches were perfect for just sitting and enjoying nature.

A true getaway!
This cabin is exactly as advertised. A secluded, remote, quiet, and peaceful cabin in the mountains. Cheryl is amazing, very quick to respond to inquiries, but hands off when you need your peace. My son, our husky Falkor, and I all enjoyed the vacation and brought in 2024 in a beautiful snowy bliss! We will be back in the summer to play in the river! Highly recommend!

Peaceful Get-away
Very enjoyable stay! I had wanted to fish, but it was just too cold and rainy (My fault....it is November!!) lol The cabin was clean and stocked with many necessities, even found salt and pepper which I had forgot!! Cheryl even provided a list of items included and by fault things not included. This list was very helpful! I would very much like to book again for spring or early summer. Is there fish in the stream that is beside the cabin?? Thank you so much!

The ineffable joy that simply pulling up to the cabin brings its overwhelming. Then immediately you're drawn in to the sound and picturesque view of the river, i find myself there for more hours than anywhere else. We've been down here 3xs now and I'm just now starting to explore the mountain that this cabin sits in the middle of. For no other reason than it's too beautiful to want to leave for anything! If you're looking for a place to truly recharge your soul, this is it! And to top it off, it's stocked and very clean! Cheryl (the host) is amazing and responds back to you like your her top priority! I cannot say enough great things about the getaway. We have already begun planning our 4th trip! *i personally recommend coming down in the second or third week of October. The drive in is something special!

Great wkd getaway!
My husband and I stayed for a weekend with our 2 dogs, the dogs loved the water and never wanted to go inside! We sat on the deck and read books, the house was soooo clean, we didn’t have a single issue!!!! We will be back!!!!!

Cabin is nice. Trail to river is deceiving. The rapids are cool but you better have waterproof shoes or something. Impossible to go in water barefoot.did not see in any reviews. I know this is cabin and not luxurious but beds were aweful. Overall had great time but make a couple changes inside and perfect place to relax.

Great Place to Relax and Unwind
This has become our favorite "getaway" now the last few years. From sitting on the porch to hanging out in the water to taking the buggy for a ride on the dirt roads, our stay couldn’t have been better! Cheryl is a wonderful host and we’ve never had any issues. We had a great week to relax and unwind!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! I would go back in a heartbeat! We went to the West Virginia Wildlife Center, the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum and went for a train ride on the New Tygart Flyer! So much fun and such a beautiful area!

Exactly as advertised… very very clean and tidy, everything for a perfect stay. Love the deck and the sound of the bubbling creek. The front porch was also nice for relaxing.Air conditioning in the cabin but we did not need to use it. Such a cozy place!

‘Escape on the river’ says it all…very secluded and relaxing atmosphere in nature with the spectacular view and sound of the river from the deck…the property is very clean and has everything needed for creating great memories with our family…also a stone fire pit to sit around and a walkway down to the river…we had a fantastic time but most of all a ‘relaxing’ time!!!…we plan on returning…

Escape on the River
The cabin was comfortable and had just about everything you need. Really the only 2 things that would make it perfect is a gas grill on the back deck and a regular sized coffee pot! That back deck was amazing! We spent a lot of time there, we never even turned the TV on. Such a view!! We loved it there and will definitely be back! Thanks for sharing it!!

The Getaway
Your place was very cozy, warm and inviting. We were two women in our 50’s with our dogs. We found everything we needed in your lovely cabin. The river was so soothing. Caution, for other women traveling, it is very remote so if you are at all nervous about that, don’t come here in the wintertime. We felt safe knowing that our host was only three miles up the road. Plus we had our dogs.

This property was as advertised. However, the photos in the listing do not give this property enough justice. What a beautiful spot. The cabin was spacious and well stocked. The host was communicative. The directions from the host to get to the property were perfect.

The cabin was cute, little nerve racking pulling up but once inside it was cute. Had a little fireplace, tv, and great deck looking over the river out back. We stayed during winter and the snow was beautiful on the water, however we could have used some salt for the parking area and steps, I slipped on ice which wasn’t fun. But other than that the cabin had everything we needed for our stay! I recommend if you want a get away this is the place!

It was just a mini vacation, but we were sorry to leave. So peaceful and we had fun exploring the area. Even with the windows closed we could hear the creek at night and it was so soothing to fall asleep to! Loved the West Virginia State Wildlife Center! We had glorious weather for our weekend stay. It's on our "return" list!

Our new favorite getaway place
Great location, except for proximity to other cabins. We wanted our dog to run off leash, and even though it appeared no one else was around we tried to respect the boundaries. She still had plenty of room in the front and along the river. It was a little tricky getting down to the river with wet leaves on the path, but this 60 year old woman did it several times. It was well worth the effort.

Relaxing mountain getaway
We enjoyed our stay so much! The cabin is very comfortable and had all we needed. The scenery (especially the water from the deck) is spectacular. We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit every night and having the firewood delivered and waiting for us was great. Cheryl is so easy to work with and responsive. My dog loved it too - especially all the new scents and smells on our many walks. Thanks for the hospitality!

Everything was super easy. Check-in, arrival and check-out. Host was great at answering questions and responded promptly. There are other cabins nearby but it was super quiet (not sure if most were occupied or not!) The winding roads and so many deer at night were not something we have a lot of around our home so that was a little nerve racking but it was so peaceful and beautiful out there. We had a restful couple of days!

Exactly as listed on VRBO. Quaint, lovely cabin by the creek. So peaceful and relaxing. The cabin was spotless and well stocked with even more items than expected. This was a much needed secluded time away. We loved the Wildlife Center (we went twice). It was very nice with paved wooded pathways and lovely animals both in enclosures and deer roaming the woods forging. We also visited Holly River State Park, which was also very well maintained and beautiful scenery. Thank you, Cheryl, for opening your cabin to the public to enjoy!

Just the get away I needed. Sounds of the creek sitting on the deck will start to relax you right away. Very important if you’re coming to this property. Make sure you write down or take a screenshot of the code to get the keys. I had no cell phone service in this area. If I needed to get online to pull up that information I would not been able to do it. I would’ve had to travel back to civilization. I would suggest having an actual GPS that works off the satellites or having a old fashion map. While you’re on the Wi-Fi at the cabin Google maps will load and tell you how to get to the general store. When you go to return and have no cell phone service Google Maps will not work. If you plan on going down to the creek bed bring a good pair of boots. The walkway has character and is a little rough I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did

Fitting name for this cabin
I don’t think I could have loved this place any more. It had everything we needed and more than I expected! I was with my granddaughter who loves creeks so this spot was good for her too. Cheryl even made a special trip to deliver a couple of tubes for some low key tubing. I loved being able to hear the water in the creek! I’d go back here in a heartbeat!

Always a Great Stay
This was our third time staying at the Getaway Cabin and we are still in love with it! It is so relaxing to sit on either deck or around the fire with the sounds of the stream. We saw deer and a cute little lizard with a blue tail. We love that we can take our dog with us. He loves laying on the porch and watching the wildlife! There is a perfect flat spot in the stream to put some lawn chairs in and relax. There are so many dirt roads to ride around. You never know what you’ll find! We love it!!!

We loved how remote the cabin was. It was great for our dog and she loved playing in the creek. We learned in a hurry to use a GPS and a cell phone together for guidance. We ended up on some adventurous roads in the area. The Hutte restaurant in Helvetia is a good option for lunch/dinner and relatively close. A pepperoni roll from the wildlife center on your way back from town is a good option as well. They make their own fresh rolls.
