We enjoyed our stay at John’s Cabin
We booked John’s Cabin because it was in the path of totality for the Great American Eclipse on April 8, 2024. The cabin is small but worked well for the two of us and it easily accommodated friends that visited for the day. The steps to the loft bedroom were challenging and Billie offered to make up the sofa bed so we could sleep on the main level. We enjoyed the quietness of the country setting and the view of the pond from the front porch. Billie is an excellent host and took a personal interest in making us feel at home. We enjoyed our stay.

Weekend Getaway
My wife and I decided to take a last minute trip to French Lick to get away for the weekend. We had a weekend long move the weekend before. We found the cabin charming and quiet and really enjoyed ourselves. We hope to do this again in the near future.

Perfect get away
The house is as described. Very clean, cozy and bathroom was perfect. We did not use the loft with the queen bed. The railing was under 3 ft tall, if you dont like heights bring an air mattress. We brought our own Queen air mattress and it was perfect in the main room. Location was awesome for going to Patoka and being close to French lick without being in the downtown. Cute place.

cabin was smaller than expected. open living area was great. Steep stairs and small bathroom were a challenge for this 88 year old. Was very peaceful and isolated and still close to French Lick. Had a very good time

This rustic cabin was perfect for our getaway. Close to attractions and hiking in French Lick yet in the quiet of the woods. Host responded quickly & resolved a small issue. As others have said, the upstairs loft has steep, high steps that would be difficult if you have mobility issues.

Very nice cabin and nice quiet location. Only thing the loft upstairs has steep stairs that may be hard for elderly to climb. Owner is very easy to reach and made the process very easy

A Relaxing Weekend
We enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin is in a very peaceful and seemingly remote location, yet very close to French Lick and West Baden Springs. Everything about the cabin was fine. And the Wi-Fi was really fast and reliable. The only issue we had was with the steep stairs to get to the loft bedroom area. They were difficult to navigate, at least for older people.

Overall good, just first impressions were poor. Pond looked stagnant and we doubt fish are populated in this pond.

Beautiful cabin in the woods. The description is exactly what you get. Secluded yet a short drive to French Lick and area attractions. Very nice fire pit for evening fires. I will stay here again. Billie is a wonderful host.

The place was great. The stairs were a bit steep if you have trouble climbing but otherwise a beautiful place to visit. We had to leave earlier than expected due to 2 deaths in the family. The weather was horrible, also no ones fault. Hopefully we can visit again in the future under better circumstances. Billie Deel is a tremendous host.

My husband visited for a hunting trip. He enjoyed the cabin and location. Easy to get to his hunting places. Enjoyed sitting outside and the view. The owners were absolutely lovely to deal with. Just to note, there is no regular stove or oven upon which to cook. Other things are there so as to compensate. Just an FYI to those who are “streamline” cooks. He missed his basic broccoli steamer, frying pan, etc. Enjoy. The owner was so very gracious and kind.

A slice of heaven!!
I cannot express enough how much this place was awesome! Cute and cozy and minutes away from French lick. It was just my mom and I and take note you have to be a little limber to get to the top loft and as long as you check the amenities, you’ll be able to meal plan better. We had omelettes and egg scrambles. Just a great area overall! We will be back!

It was the cutest place for me and my guy friend! It rained the whole time, but we weren’t bummed because it was beautiful that way too! We stayed in and watched scary movies and had to best time on the covered porch. The whole place was adorable and I was very happy!

Very cozy and comfortable
My wife and spent our anniversary here and was very pleased with everything. It was very clean and very comfortable. Lots of antique displays and just made you fill at home. The host was amazing on commutation and being there if needed. Arriving at the cabin to a amazing dessert and great hospitality. I would recommend this to anyone. It was a very relaxing time.

Exactly what we needed
We wanted a private hideaway to celebrate 30 years together with easy access to the resort and casino. The cabin was perfect for both. Our hostess makes a tremendous brownie as an added bonus.

A quiet respite
John’ cabin was the perfect place for us to get away from the hustle of everyday life. Cozy, unique and lovely- this quiet place in the hills of Orange County did just that. The special touches that Billie provided were greatly appreciated. We will be back!

Amazing Stay!
Perfect property. Animal visits (turkeys, deer, hummingbirds), fishing was incredible, comfort of stay and communication with owner was amazing! Highly recommended - I’d stay again for sure!

A quiet space
The property was clean and ready with amenities that I needed. My favorite things about this property was the neighborhood and porch. As I sat on the front porch playing guitar, I was not competing with city noise or constant traffic. The trail was a nice hike, with some good ups and downs but again, a space where I could listen to the bees and birds and the soft wind blowing. All in all a restful respite.

John's Cozy Cabin was wonderfully quaint and comfortable. The woodsy smell upon stepping inside was soothing. The story behind the cabin was beautiful and inspiring. The Deel family has succeeded in creating a Cozy getaway. We will be return visitors!
