"The hotel was very comfortable and clean, and the hosts were very friendly and polite. They accommodated our every need. There was a wonderful balcony and small garden, where we could enjoy Mount Fuji and relax while enjoying a cup of coffee. The room also had a separate washing machine with dryer, which saved us the trouble of having to go elsewhere for laundry. We stayed for three days, and my family, especially the children, thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. While the hotel is a bit...

"Stayed here for a work trip. Great location and friendly staff. I was late for check-in due to transportation and staff stayed up to wait for me. Location is nice and quiet, about 30min walk from downtown."

"Wakakusa no Yado Maruei gave us an unforgettable ryokan experience. We visited in mid‑May, and the staff’s warmth stood out from the moment we arrived. Even though we came early, they checked us in using a translation app, stored our bags, and welcomed us back enthusiastically at check‑in. We were treated to green tea and manju in the lobby bar, which made us feel like VIPs. Our bags were already in our room when we arrived.
The room was spacious by Japanese standards, with an entry area, leather slippers, double sinks, a shower, a separate toilet room with its own slippers, a living area, and a tatami sleeping space facing beautiful Lake Kawaguchi. The futon bedding was very comfortable.
The hotel has three onsen areas—indoor, outdoor, and a private one. We booked the private onsen in the afternoon as recommended, and the view of Mount Fuji was spectacular. We were lucky to have clear weather, making the experience even more special.
Our in‑room kaiseki dinner was a highlight. Each of the many small dishes was beautifully prepared, including an aperitif from a local winery. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with gorgeous presentation and thoughtful service.
While Japanese people are known for their polite and respectful manner, the staff at Wakakusa no Yado Maruei truly go above and beyond. This was our first ryokan experience, and I would absolutely return for the serene room, the wonderful food, and the exceptional hospitality."
"The location is really good, close to the mall and restaurants, we booked for the room on the top floor to see the Mt.Fuji which is exactly what it shows on the pictures. Unfortunately the weather is not so good, too cloudy so that we’re not able to see it."
"I loved that there was a balcony, great view of Fuji! Onsen is nice, I liked bathing in the evening, so peaceful, they do have vending machines in the basement. Free Shuttle bus from kawaguchiko station and back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Staff was very helpful!"
"Hotel and room are beautiful located on a hillside. Cocktail hour with food and drinks are awesome considering the hotel is not accessible to find your own food. Very romantic and quiet location for a chilled stay. Staff are very helpful and there are shuttle between the hotel and kawaguchiko station."
"great value for a solo traveler. clean bed and bathroom, for a tall american the bathroom was a tight squeeze but can't complain with the price and value of the place. great staff that was very responsive."
"Amazing place to stay I can’t wait to come back. Nothing negative even if I tried to think of it. As soon as I arrived the staff were so accommodating and helpful showing me my room and explaining amenities. I had a supper in my room and they explain everything provided. The included breakfast was delicious. The private room onsen and private baths also incredible. It was so clean. The dress robes and pajamas provided also so lovely. Spacious room. Great view of the lake and view or Mt Fuji from a public balcony. As a solo female travelling I felt very safe here. They also pick you up and drop you off at the bus loop! You won’t regret coming here!"
