We had a work retreat on the island and needed an extra rental unit to accommodate some guests. Paul's Home by the Sea was a special place. Gorgeous ocean views in all directions. Very spacious house, comfy beds and accommodating hosts! Thanks for the amazing stay!
The views of the sunsets were spectacular and it was very relaxing watching them from the patio over looking the water. The house was very spacious and everyone enjoyed their stay. Thanks Paul for sharing your villa along the the Galiano coast.
We loved being here. The privacy and closeness and access to the ocean was wonderful. The house was spacious and cozy. All four bedrooms had comfortable beds with lots of pillows. The kitchen was very well stocked. Windows and decks to see eagles, otters and lots of sea lions! Paul was an excellent host with clear instructions but very relaxed as well. We’ll be back.
The view is breathtaking! If wildlife is what you're after this is the place. Everything from the resident squirrel, hummingbirds, kingfishers, gulls working on swallowing starfish (no easy feat), eagles, lots of different marine birds, seals, river otter, sea lions galore catching dinner right out front, porpoise and a small pod of orca, however, the house does need some TLC.
The house is located in North Galiano. It’s in a secluded part of Galiano. Lovely rustic place, no television, just lovely trees and nature. It was very hot when we arrived, no air conditioning just electric fans that were not on. It took a while to cool the house down. The view was spectacular!
If you want peace and quiet, stunning views and sunsets, this is your place. Completely off the beaten track and so tranquil. Spot seals and purple starfish from the deck (no orcas for us).
The house itself is very spacious. The upstairs configuration is a little unusual with one bedroom on the main landing with a screen not a door, and another bedroom with glass door to the interior so not completely private. That said, it worked fine for us and the house is equipped with all you need for kitchenware, bedding etc. There is no safe beach access direct from the property, but it’s all rocks below anyway and there are several deck areas and plenty of outdoor seating to sit and enjoy the views.
Paul is extremely responsive as a host and replied very quickly to our queries before and during the holiday. Highly recommend! 😊
We absolutely adored our stay on the north end of Galiano.

We loved this property for all it offered: quiet and secluded, with absolutely stunning views. The house is charming (if a bit quirky with its layout) and well-stocked with everything we needed, and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was exactly the escape from the city we needed.
We rented property at 305 Deacons Lane on Galiano Island in British Columbia for two nights from July 15 to July 17. The reservation ID is HA-S4V5V9, and the property ID is 9875118.The accommodation was completely unsatisfactory for many reasons.Deacons Lane was incredibly rough and hard for our passenger car to drive on.Any eating utensils such as cutlery and plates were not cleaned satisfactorily prior to our use. In the stove’s oven we discovered dirty, grease-laden pans. Many water faucets were not working. Tap water from working faucets was dark and had a strange taste. Prospective renters should have been told to bring their own drinking water. In the bathrooms, the shower area and tub were unclean and simply not well-maintained.The bedrooms couldn’t be satisfactorily darkened, and made decent conditions for sleeping impossible. There was an exposed electrical outlet in one of the bedrooms.Stairs to the beach were deemed by our party to be too dangerous for children and older adults with stability issues. The “beach” itself was observed to be too rocky and exposed to tidal changes to traverse comfortably. We left early the next morning after only one night of the two nights we rented. We paid 2000 for two nights and had a terrible experience that wasted our valued holiday expenses.
