With new COVID-19 safety measures in place, travel looks a little different nowadays. Here's what you should know before you pack your bags for Gaspe Peninsula:

• Look into what, if any, rules or restrictions apply to both your destination and origin. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so be sure to check before you lock something in.
• Requirements state you must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA employee.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it directly on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now permits passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag for scanning.
• To reduce handling during screening, place items such as your phone, coins and keys into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
• Separate any food you have for X-ray scanning. Placing it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to touch and inspect your belongings.
