This property was a great option if you are trying to enjoy the Appenzell area. The room was well appointed and we had two separate sleeping areas. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I have never had more options in a breakfast that is included. The hotel is a 1-2 minute walk to the train so it was extremely convenient. The staff took care of all of our needs while we were there. Highly recommend this hotel.

The young lady working reception was very kind, friendly and informative. She shared helpful information regarding the area and made recommendations. She provided great customer service. Room was very hot but this is a very old building. Breakfast was vwry good.

Looking Forward to Returning!

This trip was to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday with hiking, fine dining, and relaxing getaway. All of our expectations were met or exceeded. When they found out about the birthday, we found a card and bouquet of flowers on our table at dinner the first night. The flowers then made it to our table at breakfast the next morning and dinner that night (we brought them home with us). Every member of the staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. It was one of our best weekends away after nearly 10 years of living and traveling around Europe.

Alpstein Wanderungen

Der Bären in Gonten ist ein super Hotel für diverse Aktivitäten in und um Appenzell. Wir haben das verlängerte Wochenende mit Wandern im Alpstein verbracht. Man könnte aber auch Golfen oder im Winter diverse Aktivitäten im Schnee machen.

Ich war in der Nähe zu einer Fortbildung und das Appenzeller Huus ist mit Abstand das Beste Hotel was ich in der Nähe finden konnte. Kuschliges kleines Hotel mit gutem Frühstück und regionalen Produkten. Das Menü am Abend war auch super, sowie das Essen in der Löwenstube im gegenüberliegenden Hotel.

das Dachzimmer in der "Residence" war gemütlich, aber etwas klein. Das Hotel selber hat super schöne, rustikale Räume! Das Frühstücksbuffet war reichlich, mit regionalen Produkten.

Heimeliger Eingangsbereich bei Reception, allerdings war die Bar schlecht ausgerüstet/bedient. Das Zimmer war dunkel und klein/tief. Vor dem Fenster sah man direkt an die Hauswand, die keine 2m entfernt war. Frühstück war fein.
