About this property

Old Spot Cottage, Holiday Cottage Strumble Head Peninsula, Sleeps 6, 3 bedrooms, bathrooms

  • Old Spot Cottage – A Characterful Coastal Escape on the Strumble Head Peninsula.Tucked away on a working farm on the stunning Strumble Head Peninsula, Old Spot Cottage is a beautifully converted traditional stone barn offering the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. Set around a farmyard with the farmhouse and a cottage adjacent, enjoy the breath-taking views from the front of the barn over rolling countryside, with the dramatic coastline and sea just over the hill.Inside, the cottage has been thoughtfully restored to retain its character, with exposed stone walls, A-frame beams, and slate and tiled floors, all complemented by cosy underfloor heating. The welcoming dining room leads through an archway into a well-equipped, quality fitted kitchen – ideal for preparing relaxed family meals.Victorian doors, reclaimed from the farmhouse, open into a spacious sitting room, where a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, and a charming stained-glass window (rescued from a local chapel) create a truly special atmosphere. A wood-burning stove adds warmth and comfort, making it a perfect space to unwind after a day exploring. Two steps lead to a hallway and two generously sized, light-filled bedrooms, both overlooking the farmyard, along with a family bathroom featuring a shower and corner bath. Stairs from the dining room lead to a third bedroom tucked into the eaves, where velux windows frame far-reaching countryside views.A stable door from the kitchen opens with steps down to a large, enclosed lawned garden, sheltered by mature trees – ideal for children to play. To the front, a sunny gravel seating area provides a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy the farmyard setting. Steps from the kitchen also lead to a practical utility area and wet room, perfect for washing off sandy toes or storing walking gear.Perfect for walkers, wildlife lovers, and those seeking tranquillity, the surrounding area is rich in natural beauty. A short stroll up Garn Fawr rewards you with sweeping panoramic views over the coastline, out to sea, and inland towards the Preseli Hills. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is within a short walk, offering miles of dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and unforgettable scenery. Take advantage of the Strumble Shuttle to catch a lift back, the bus stop is only 500 metres away.Wildlife enthusiasts will love nearby Strumble Head, where dolphins, porpoises, and seals are regular visitors, especially during the Autumn, seal pup season. The quiet shingle beach at Porthsychan is just a short distance away, while the sand and shingle coves of Abermawr and Aberbach are within easy driving distance. For local amenities, the harbour town of Fishguard and Goodwick offer a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, and galleries. Further afield, the UK’s smallest City, St Davids, with its magnificent Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace, is well worth a visit, as is the charming town of Newport set on the Nevern Estuary, with its long glorious sandy beach in the opposite direction.Whether you’re exploring the coast, spotting wildlife, or simply relaxing in peaceful surroundings, Old Spot Cottage provides a wonderful holiday base at any time of year. Please note changes of level throughout the cottage.
