"Good facilities, comfortable, easy to park, convenient key collection, liked the property overall. You need to drive into the village for the pub as the road is not safe in the dark, but it is very easy to park in the public car park at the racecourse, right in the centre of town. Need slippers for the stone floors. Properties a little close together on site, in summer it may be a bit less private if everyone is out on their patios."

Lakes Hotel and Spa

"Room was very clean and luxurious! Hot tub was lovely! The spa was amazing! We really enjoyed our stay. The only downfall was the charge for parking as we weren’t aware there was a cost, the amount was taken from my card and I was given a receipt at checkout but would have been nice to be aware of the charge before hand at check in. When paying so much for a hotel you would think parking is included. We would stay here again as it was a gorgeous break away. Food in the pub was very nice."

"We loved our stay at the hotel, the room was amazing and the views that came with the room were too. All the staff were really lovely but the lady in reception who dealt with us was especially helpful to us. The breakfast was really nice too. All in all a really nice night away and would recommend."

"Astaff very friendly, very accommodating with my daughter's medication storage needs. Nice room decorated in the Victorian style, beds were clean and comfy. Dinner was delicious and well worth the price of only £25 for two courses. Beautiful setting in the fells of shap lovely for a walk with red squirrels to spot while out and about star gazing is possible with extremely low light pollution."

"Beautiful hotel. The patio was fantastic, but only two parasols available for about eight tables outside. The staff were so very friendly and helpful. Lovely views overlooking Lake Windermere in the distance. The breakfast and lunch were brilliant. We took a walk around the gardens and tarn which were delightful. Free duck food is available at reception."

"It’s a majestic and beautiful property which has been tastefully decorated. We stayed in the family room (2 adults and a teenager) and it was huge and lovely. The only criticism would be about the bathroom…the shower pressure and no shelving in the shower or bath to put your products on (very minor though). We can’t speak highly enough of all the staff from the reception, to the restaurant/breakfast and bar. A special mention to Brendan who made one of the nicest Espresso Martinis I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back."
