Lovely family Christmas stay

Family of 7 stayed at Four Pines Lodge over Christmas. We all found it very comfortable, the Christmas tree was really pretty, hot tub was enjoyed. There was plenty of space for all of us and everything we could need, nice and clean. The beds were very comfortable which makes a nice change in a holiday home! There was a couple of little tiny issues, like we didn't have hot water and no instructions on how to turn it on, but a quick call and the property manager was super friendly and helpful and sorted it for us. Couple of glasses were chipped and there was nowhere to store clothes in the upstairs bedroom. The main sitting room was comfy and spacious and we liked the fire, logs were provided. The front wall was not high enough for us to let our dog off the lead which was a shame but the location was brill and a short walk to get into the woods, would definitely recommend.

Lovely Lodge

This Lodge has everything you need for a comfortable relaxing stay. Great to be secluded but the location is close to lots of things to do, including Aviemore.

Perfect location

This was our 2nd stay at Four Pines and once again it did not disappoint. My grandchildren loved the house, garden, woodland walks and short car journeys to Landmark, Aviemore and Inverness. I loved the hot tub and comfortable bed. Although some areas were a bit tired compared to our last visit it did not affect our visit.

an excellent stay!

the house is so quirky but really comfortable and had everything we needed. the garden and hot tub were great and the house was warm and cosy. the only issues we had were with the big water supply and the blinds in the upstairs kids bedroom. the decking was very slippy too but we understand that it’s difficult ti maintain with so many trees and wet weather.

Great family break away!

Very pleased with stay! Board games - dvd player. Plenty kitchen utensils - dishwasher Dog bowls for dogs Could be doing with a brush for clearing as only hoover available just for general tidying. Location secluded but accessible to near by villages with car and fantastic walks available in local woods yet short drives away to many more! Cupboard door a little loose in kitchen and would be nice with some drawer space in upstairs loft bedroom as we used this for the kids. . Low gate at front of property so kept the dogs more at back of garden with someone always watching the space as we have a dog who is quite prey driven so lots of wildlife so just to be careful if relevant. Loved the hot tub, outdoor space. Would definitely book again!

Lovely place

Lovely place in a beautiful location. Home from home. Loads of space. Had a small problem and the lady had the maintenance come out straight away that day. Loads to do nearby. We really enjoyed our stay. I would say property needs to be more enclosed for dogs and some modifications needed in the property to keep it upto date. But overall brilliant stay and would fully recommend.

Four Pine Lodge

The property is in an amazing location. Close to Aviemore and Grantown on Spey by car. The views surrounding the property are stunning and the garden is just amazing. The hot tub and the fire pit in the back court are fantastic additional features . The beds are really comfortable. Things that could have been improved I felt like the cleaning could have been better there were a lot of cobwebs around and the attic room in particular really needed a good clean. There were bulbs missing from lamps in the living room. Some of the brackets attaching kitchen cupboards were loose and the bins hadn’t been emptied from the previous guests. I think when you are paying what you are paying for this property you can expect the cleaning to be a high standard, bulbs to be supplied and the fixtures and fittings to be in good working order. All in all it was a comfortable stay.

Great location away from it all but close enough for essentials

We had a great week at FPL. Weather wasn’t the kindest but that’s what water proofs are for. House was always warm and welcoming to return to. The house is up a small lane so not much traffic goes past. Great walks from the front door in the forest at the end of the track. Grantown-On-Spey only a few minutes up the road for takeaways and supplies. A few minor running issues that need to be addressed ie Yale lock didn’t work, had to discard 2 oven trays as they were rusty and flaking, no grill tray but these are small problems. Couldn’t work out how to turn on decking lights and extractor fan in 1 of the shower rooms didn’t work. Again all small problems easily fixable. Dogs loved the garden but be aware that the front fence and gate are low so if your dogs see the Roe deer that we’re always in the field opposite the house they may be able to jump the fence/gate. Lots of wildlife visited the garden; red squirrel, great woodpecker and lots of other birds. In all a great stay in a great house.

Disappointing

Great location but sadly the property is in desperate need of a deep clean and refurbishment. Issues raised by previous guests haven't been addressed 6 months later which shows the lack of genuine care to the paying customer.

Some great points and some not so good. Overall a great family holiday spot.

We had a lovely holiday at 4 Pines Lodge. The house has lots of good things going for it and was good for our family getaway. There are a few maintenance and cleaning issues that we have advised GNL of. That said, the basics of bedrooms and bedding were clean, no complaints. Same with toilet showers and kitchen. Large lounge great for family gathering and there were plenty of logs for the fire. Whole house could do with a bit of a ‘refresh’ Garden area was great for kids and dog and we enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit.

Look elsewhere!

This property is in poor condition - including dog mess on the rug upon arrival - and has multiple serious maintenance failures such as blown double glazed windows, some of which could not be secured, faulty heating, missing and non functional lighting, a blocked chimney and an unsecured garage to name a few - this makes it completely unfit for rental. To make things worse, many issues were known to the property manager, as well as the home owner, yet the home was still marketed at full price. When I raised these problems, various solutions were offered but all impacted our stay, we shouldn't have to have remedial work carried out during our holiday, this demonstrates management failures at every level. We ultimately ended up leaving early having had a thoroughly miserable experience. The agent did not take responsibility for these issues blaming the property manager, which is completely unacceptable. I was offered a small refund and countered that with what I felt was reasonable compensation for our disastrous stay, but the agent simply refused to negotiate and eventually stopped responding. Overall, the property requires major renovation and should not be listed for rental in its current condition. I cannot recommend this home or the management, and I would strongly advise future guests to look elsewhere.
