A really nice place to spend a few days with a comfortable room. The bathroom could have been a bit bigger. The landlady is very helpful.

Quiet but close
This is a great little spot. It's a short walk to the beach but still a little secluded so it was quite. The pool was awesome and it was great to sit on my balcony and sip coffee as the sun came up. The owners were very welcoming and friendly.

Our stay was very early in the season, before the hotel was really open. We only saw staff members a few times but they were very polite and helpful.

Afroditi was a fine place to stay
Very convenient for the tavernas at the Old Harbour and the local beach. The local beach is sandy an great for children as it gets deep gradually.We found swimming at the Green Beach at the East end of Analipsi much more invigorating. Afroditi made us welcome and breakfast was served as requested.

Nice place but some issues
I don't like to make negative comments about places as nice as the Afroditi apartments but there were a couple of 'issues' that really need mentioning. We booked an 8 night stay through Hotels.com for the end of March/beginning of April and shortly after we received a 'welcome' email from the Afroditi, inviting us to 'feel free' to make use of their pool and also their website informed us that there would be a few items 'in the larder' for us upon arrival. Err.......the pool hadn't even been prepared for the season and the 'bread,butter,milk,jam,tea,coffee and sugar' were only conspicuous by their absence! To be fair, the Lady (Afroditi) did leave some cake and some Raki, but we'd deliberately not bothered to pick up coffee etc. on the way from the airport. We had a problem for the first 2 days with a lack of hot water, but managed to contact the lady eventually (she wasn't around for the first few days), which did get sorted. I would say that the Afroditi apartments in Makrigialos are very nice (lovely views from the balcony) however on this occasion they weren't quite 'ready' for us. As far as the pool was concerned we probably wouldn't have used it anyway but imagine if we'd had kids in tow? there'd be some fairly disappointed faces I guess! Don't be put off if you're planning to visit mid-season.

Great value for sea view apartment with pool
Afroditi was an excellent choice- nicely built apartments with sea view balcony. 2 minutes walking distance to the beach and little shops, tavernas& supermarkets. Would go back there anytime! Thanks again, also for the free Raki☺!

A lovely break in Makri Gialos at the The Afroditi
After a relaxing stay here in November 2014 we decided to visit Makri Gialos again when it was a little more active. No faults with the Afriditi or the lovely family that run it so it was our first choice. Just away from the beach front but very quiet and with it's own little pool just right for that swim before breakfast to start the day off. We will be staying here again in the future.

Wir Waren für eine Nacht während einer Rundreise hier und waren sehr zufrieden. Freundlicher Empfang, sehr sauber, netter kleiner Pool um sich mal schnell abzukühlen und man ist in ein paar Minuten am Strand und bei den besten Tavernen.

Ο χώρος ηταν ακριβώς οπως στις φωτογραφίες. Σε πολύ καλό σημείο στην περιοχή και αρκετά ευκολα προσβάσιμο σε παραλία και σουπερ μαρκετ.

Très bonne adresse
Très bonne adresse. Les appartements sont très bien situés dans le centre du village, proche des commerces, des restaurants et de la plage. La piscine est très agréable et chaque appartement possède un balcon avec une jolie vue sur la mer. L’accueil est personnalisé et très agréable.

Da kann man gut wohnen :-)
Gepflegte, kleine Appartementanlage direkt im Ort mit Blick aufs Meer. Einfache, sinnvolle, gute Ausstattung mit Küchenzeile/Kühlschrank/Geschirr, täglich gereinigt. Sehr freundliche, unkomplizierte "Wirtin". Haben uns wohl gefühlt. Nix für Leute, die Sterneausstattung/-service erwarten. Einfach, ehrlich, gut. Viele Restaurants am Meer fußläufig erreichbar, kleiner ruhiger Ort ohne Highlights, mit guten Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.

Reposant et chambre coquette
Accueil excellent. La chambre est très belle. Beaucoup de sérénité se dégqge de cet endroit Accès direct piscine, mer et restaurants a 100m. Piscine petite et très propre. Appartement joli et bien aménagé. Je recommande vivement cet Hotel pour une escapade romantique.

Guter Standort fur Wanderurlaub
Makro Gialos ist ideal für ein paar Tage Wandern: Gute Busverbindungen und die schöne Pefki-Schlucht vor der Haustür. Wer gehobene Ansprüche an die Gastronomie hat sollte aber zumindest in der Vorsaison woanders hin fahren.

Prima appartement voor een nette prijs!
Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding is goed. Prachtig uitzicht over Makry-gialos en de zee, dat is nog eens heerlijk wakker worden! Basic indeling maar meer heb je ook niet nodig. Wij zijn er 7 dagen geweest, 2x handdoek wissel, netjes!

Kleines gemütliches Hotel
Zentral gelegen und schöne Wanderwege von dort in die Berge. Das Hotel liegt aber in Makrogialis. Nicht in Ierapetra.

Kleine Anlage - eher für Paare geeignet
Der Service war gut. Jeden Tag wurde gekehrt und/oder die Betten gemacht und/oder die Handtücher gewechselt. Die Mülleimer wurden täglich geleert. Die Betten sind sehr einfach, aber OK. Für drei Personen (Familie mit einem Kind) empfinden wir das Apartment als zu eng. Die dritte Person muss in der "Wohnküche" auf einem herausziehbaren Bett schlafen. Dies ist sehr laut, da der Kühlschrank laut ist und die Türen und Fensterläden bei Wind klappern (Socken in Schlitze stopfen hilft!). Die Ausstattung der Apartments ist sehr einfach. Insgesamt auch recht hellhörig. Die kleine Anlage ist schön gestaltet, gepflegt, und überall stehen hübsche Blumen. Der Pool ist sehr klein und wird regelmäßig sauber gemacht. Schöner Blick auf die Bucht in Richtung Osten. Reparaturen wurden umgehend ausgeführt. Das Frühstück haben wir nicht in Anspruch genommen.

Great view!
Beautiful hotel with friendly owners. Great view from the balcony, you see the whole village and the beach. The pool is quite small, but perfect for a cool bath. Afroditi was a very kind woman and her husband Zeus? saved us when something happened to a water tap in the morning;) We sure come back, and recommend this to everyone!

Had some relaxed and quiet days in this tiny apartment hotel. Wonderful seaview from the balcony, clean rooms with kitchen and a pool just big enough to jump in. Get to know Afroditi herself, she's really nice! The breakfast (three choices) also is delicious. A place to stay or to start exploring the eastern island – you can also simply enjoy the great calm, sitting on the balcony, looking to the sea.

2 erholsame Wochen: schöner Blick über die Bucht, kurzer Weg zum Strand mit Tavernen, Sonnenschirmen und Liegen (ca 5-6 Euro pro Tag, z.T. auch kostenlos bei Verzehr im zugehörigen Restaurant). Selbstverpflegung problemlos (großer Kühlschrank, mehrere Supermärkte in der Nähe, auch Sonntags geöffnet), Handtuchwechsel täglich. Linienbus vorhanden, aber für Erkundung der Gegend ist ein Mietwagen zu empfehlen. Dann kann man Bergorte und Schluchten in der Umgebung gut erreichen.
