"The property itself is elegant and a sight to see. It is literally hidden in plane sight. You think you are walking into the mountainside and then two glass door open and you are instantaneously met with an elegant dressed staff and concierge. White washed everything from the walls to the polished art pieces on display. The staff was extremely helpful with dinner recommendations and tips for nightlife. The lunch and dinner were to die for (we didn’t sample breakfast). Fresh everything, you could even smell the herbs on your food. It was quite heavenly. The infinity pool was amazing although a bit too deep for me (for reference I am 5 ft). It had views that were u imaginable. The onsight restaurant Meraki served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The drinks were amazing, and they had an entire 20 page menu in all the different spirits/liquors/wines they offered. The spa was top tier and was very clean. Just the right amount of tranquility needed after a night of partying. The is a free shuttle that takes you to Old Town Mykonos were there is a plethora of hidden gems from fine dining to local eateries, high and low end shopping, and nightlife. The night life is top tier as every establishment is a vibe. All within a 5-10 minute walk. I would recommend this hotel time and time again if you want the luxurious Greece feel."
"The room was always clean. The individual pool was clean with amazing view. However in my 2 weeks at travelling thru Greece and staying at 5 different hotels - the front staff were the least helpful and condescending rude. I arrived by car and at check in was shown on a map where to park the car - problem was I was not asked to park my car off to the side to bring in my luggage. Unbeknownst to me it up and down a hill carrying luggage- small thing yes but lack of helpfulness. As I checked out NEITHER elevators were working so now I am carrying up my luggage 4 flights. I’m young not a huge issue. HOWEVER - the person at the front desk never apologized but repeatedly said someone did not close the doors properly- not an I’m sorry nothing he refused to acknowledge the issue and then got upset when I added the not working elevators to the front on their questionnaire paperwork. Not impressed at all."
"There’s a reason this hotel has so many good reviews - it’s absolutely amazingly well run.
The rooms actually looked better in person than the pictures to our surprise.
I was also very impressed with the food as it was all fresh, healthy and the variety served was all done to a high quality. The staff were also exceptionally helpful.
The only minor issue was people reserving sun loungers at the pool but that’s common in many places. However the hotel has ample sun loungers on the beach which made up for it."
"Great hotel, a very good all inclusive and fine ala carte restaurants.
They could probably do with a few more sunbeds, at times it was a struggle to get one.
Easy access to rhodes town with bus stop outside the hotel next door."
"My daughter and I stayed at the Aquila Atlantis Hotel during our visit to Heraklion. While it didn't have the unique character and intimate atmosphere of some of the boutique hotels we stayed at elsewhere in Greece, it was still a comfortable and convenient place to stay.
The hotel's biggest strengths are its location and amenities. It was easy to walk to many of Heraklion's attractions, restaurants, and the waterfront, making it a good base for exploring the city. The property is modern, well-maintained, and offers the services and facilities you would expect from a larger hotel.
Our room was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for our needs. The staff was professional and helpful throughout our stay, and check-in and check-out were both smooth and efficient.
For travelers looking for a full-service hotel in a central location, Aquila Atlantis is a solid choice. It may not offer the charm, history, or personalized feel of a boutique property, but it delivers what it promises: a comfortable stay, good service, and a convenient location for exploring Heraklion.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to visitors who prefer a larger hotel experience or need a convenient base before exploring the rest of Crete."
"Overall this property and the staff were beautiful and amazing. I did have a few issues 1.My room pool wasn't cleaned everyday (leaves and wind debris. 2. I went out two days all day and my room wasn't cleaned when I returned 3. The minibar attendant and the maids would come in the room anytime without waiting for me to say come in. I never experienced this in a hotel before. 4. There was a extra charge of 15 Euros a day at check out. for what? Even with these 4 issues I would stay at the hotel again. I hope this review will help."
"We stayed at Volcano View Hotel after renting a car and driving from the airport. Overall this hotel truly deserves its 5 stars. The view is magical, especially if your room faces the ocean. The pool area is beautifully designed: you can swim, relax, and sunbathe while looking out at the ocean through the glass.
Our room was very nice, fresh, clean, and comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent, and everything was changed and taken care of properly. We also really liked the gym. It was clean, high quality, and had very good equipment.
The front desk staff were outstanding. During check-in, check-out, and whenever we had questions, they were kind, patient, and happy to help. They gave us useful local advice, restaurant suggestions, and explained traditions and details that are hard to find online.
The hotel restaurant itself was good, and the buffet was very tasty. However, the only disappointing part was the attitude of some of the girls working in the restaurant. A few times they seemed unfriendly and impatient, and looked at us as if we were doing something wrong. As visitors, we may not always know local customs, but we would expect more kindness and understanding. After two or three uncomfortable experiences, we stopped eating there and chose other restaurants.
I hope the hotel management speaks with the restaurant staff and helps them become more welcoming and professional. This was the only negative point in an otherwise beautiful and high-quality hotel experience."
