If you are visiting the Irepetra area of Crete, you can of course stay at one of the fancy resorts right on the water. But if you want a truly unique and memorable experience, THIS is the place to stay. Authentic, traditional vibe with all the necessary modern amenities, quiet and relaxing atmosphere, within walking distance of many Tavernas AND the beach, and in my opinion a better view of the Libyan Sea. Plus Ioanna and her wonderful staff will take good care of you. If I could give it 6 stars I would - will definitely be returning here the next time I visit the area!!!

Gorgeous, unique property with a beautiful view of the ocean. The cottage was so spacious and clean, with stylish, modern touches. The view and patio was the best place to have a glass of wine!

A stunning and peaceful getaway
I visited Eoanna’s Traditional Cottages from New York and have only good things to say. The cottages are set in a small village and made of ancient greek architecture overlooking the ocean. We had stunning views right from our private roof terrace. Each cottage is slightly different, and there are less than ten, so there is a lot of privacy and peace and quiet. The cottages have great top-of-the-line amenities (like a Nespresso coffee maker), a small kitchen, living room, and bed room, perfect for some lone time with a significant other. One thing that really made our stay memorable was Eoanna, our host and owner of the Cottages. Eoanna was so friendly and welcoming, going out of her way to make us feel at home. She had lots of insider tips of things to do and helping with restaurant reservations. The Cottages are set in a small village Kousunari, a five minute walk from the beach and within walking distance to an abundance of great restaurants. The south of Crete was also a great choice for us, since it was far less touristy than the north. I can’t recommend this accommodation highly enough.

Home away from home
GREAT EXPERIENCE! This isn't exactly a hotel, so don't expect a lobby, restaurant or a pool (although guests can use the pool at Nakou Village which is a short drive away). What this really is, is a cute little complex of old Greek cottagess, beautifully restored, fashionably decorated and completely modernized. The cottage we stayed at had a large livingroom, big bedroom, kitchenette and a shower. It also had a terrace with great view to the mediterranean and nearby Koursounari beach. The hotel is managed by a lady who grew up in hotels herself (as she comes from a family rooted in the hotels industry), and it shows! THANK YOU.

A Homey Taste of the Southern Coast of Crete
Very spacious cottage, with private terrace and nice view. We were three adults and one toddler, but six people could have stayed in that unit. Air conditioning, two complete baths,full kitchen with utensils. Housekeeping on alternate days.The hostess gave us tips where to find authentic Cretan cuisine in a village in the hills. Very attractively furnished and decorated.

Stunning Cottages. 100% Recommended
Beautiful cottages - perfect blend of old world charm with everything you need. Spotlessly clean. Fluffy towels and hot water in newly refurbished bathroom. Super helpful staff on hand. Wifi. Views to die for. Handy for local restaurants and beaches. Quiet rural location. I honestly can't think of a single reason why you wouldn't want to stay there!

Amazingly renovated old houses
Absolutely fantastic rooms and overall setup. Only minus comes from the fact that the cottages don't have (at least ours didn't) breakfast. However, if you wish to have a week on your own in absolute peace and state of relaxation, fix a morning coffee and breakfast yourself, this is your place.

Bästa stället i närheten!
Extremt trevlig ägarinna! Berättade massor om omgivningarna, tipsade och var otroligt behjälplig! Stället insåg var otroligt trevligt! Uteplatsen superfin med magisk utsikt, inredningen toppen! Kunde inte haft en bättre vistelse på östra kreta. Sen var ju den hemgjorda marmeladen vi bjöds på den bästa jag ätit!

Très beau sejour, plages à proximité, Taverna a quelques minutes à pieds. L'hôtesse est de très bons conseils et très à l'écoute. La propreté est impeccable. La renovation de ces logements a été faites avec beaucoup de respect et de goût C'était un super sejour, nous reviendrons !

Ces hébergements traditionnels crétois ont un charme fou et sont joliment décorés. Personnes à mobilité réduite cependant s’abstenir car notre petite maison était sur trois niveaux avec des escaliers un peu périlleux. La vue sur la mer est magnifique en particulier au lever du jour. L’accueil d’Ionna (en français) était particulièrement chaleureux

Superschöne, mit traditionellen Elementen eingerichtete Unterkunft mit eigener Terasse und allen Möglichkeiten, die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Koutsounari ist nicht so touristisch überlaufen wie viele andere Orte Kretas, der nahe gelegene Strand riesengroß und das Meer äußerst sauber. Die Unterkunft wird während des Aufenthalts regelmäßig gereinigt und der Empfang, die Auskünfte, Informationen und Gespräche von und mit Ioanna und ihrer Mutter waren sehr herzlich, interessant und hilfreich. Unbedingte und uneingeschränkte Empfehlung!

Vacances dans un cottage harmonieux et fonctionel
Ce cottage est fabuleux , constitué de maisonnettes magnifiques ou chacun a son intimité . La décoration est superbe et combine les matériaux rustiques avec une grande fonctionnalité . Chaque cottage a son propre espace extérieur et la plupart avec une superbe vue sur la mer de Lybie. Ces cottages sont d'une propreté remarquable et le ménage effectué trés réguliérement. Sur le plan du matériel , rien ne manque : ustensiles de cuisine , produits de salle de bain , séche cheveux , ... Même des chaises longues sont disponibles L'accueil de Ioanna a été fabuleux et tout était préparé à l'avance . En plus de sa gentillesse et la chaleur de son accueil , elle nous a fournit de précieux conseils sur les endroits à ne pas rater dans la région de Ierapetra.

Schönes Häuschen mit tollem Ausblick
Wir haben zwei Wochen in einem der Cottages verbracht. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen, der Ausblick von unserer Terasse auf das Meer war hübsch, leider war es während unseres Aufenthaltes recht windig, ansonsten hätten wir dort sicherlich mehr Zeit verbracht. Unser Haus war nett eingerichtet, besonders gut gefallen haben uns die gemauerten Sitzbänke. Für den Weg zum Strand empfiehlt es sich mit dem Auto zu fahren. Die Gastgeberin ist sehr freundlich und konnte uns viele Tipps für Ausflüge auf der ganzen Insel geben. Die Zimmerreinigung findet alle 2-3 Tage statt. Gerne wieder!

Wir waren leider nur eine Woche im Traditional Cottages - wir hätten es viel länger ausgehalten. Koutsounari ist zwar kein sehr schöner Ort - es hat keinen Ortskern - aber das Appartement war umso schöner! Joanna hat uns liebevoll und sehr freundlich aufgenommen. Das Appartement würde in der Woche dreimal gereinigt und die Betten überzogen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

We enjoyed our stay at the very nicely decorated and spacious cottage, in particular sitting on the terrace and enjoying the sea view. The cottage was very clean and we were surprised that being a self-catering cottage it was serviced every 2nd day. Also Ioanna was very friendly and helpful, not only providing us with all the necessities for breakfast the first day, but also going out of her way to make our stay memorable. Also out kids loved the place and the pool (with kids pool), even if a bit of a hike was necessary to reach it.

Einfach Wunderbar!
Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit in unserem so liebevoll eingerichteten Cottage! Die Terrasse mit ihrem Blick auf das Meer-traumhaft! Die Gastgeberin Ioanna ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, so dass wir uns sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt haben. Es empfiehlt sich, ein Auto zu mieten, um auch andere Strände erkunden zu können! Tolle Tavernen im Umkreis mit leckeren griechischen Köstlichkeiten! Alles in allem ein Volltreffer, um sich gut zu erholen!

Drei Tage wie drei Wochen
Die restaurierten Cottages sind ein idealer Ort, um sich vom Alltag zu erholen und eine keine Auszeit einzulegen. Die großartige, wieder hergerichtete Anlage aus alten Gebäudeteilen besticht durch ihre Großzügigkeit und ist idyllisch in die Landschaft eingebettet. Man sieht einfach die Liebe zum Detail, welche sich auch in der Austattung der Zimmer wieder spiegelt. Für uns war der Aufenthalt hier das Highlight unserer Rundreise. Im Ort bekommt man alles, was benötigt wird um auch mal ein kleines Abendessen zuzubereiten. Die Küchenausstattung beinhaltet alles, was man braucht. Wenn wir mal wieder auf Kreta sind, kommen wir auf jedenfall wieder, versprochen!

wunderbare stilvolle Cottages
Restaurierte alte Bauernhäuser an permanent sonniger Südküste mit Meerblick, sehr geschmackvoll autentisch ausgestatet und nicht überdekoriert, Sitz- und Essecken (mit schönen bequemen Sitzkissen) und Betten (mit sehr guten Matrazen) auf gemauerten Podesten, viele liebevolle Details, aber nicht überdekoriert. grob geputzte weiße Wände und dunkle Deckenbalken, Riesig viel Platz in den Räumen. Wir hatten Wohn- und Schlafraum getrennt und da das Haus für 4 Personen ausgelegt ist, 2 dekorative Bäder mit modernen Objekten und netten Details, im einfachen Stil (keine Fliesen, auch hier grob geputzte Wände weiß gestrichen und sauberer Estrich, gemauerte Duschtrennwände und Ablagen) "Bäuerliche" Küche mit großem Marmorbecken und gemauerter Arbeitsplatte. Klimaanlage in beiden Räumen, kostenloses W-Lan. Die Terrasse mit Meerblick ist riesig und teilweise überdacht, Sitzbänke aus Stein, Tisch,, Terrassenstühle und Liegestühle, mit vielen Blumen und Straüchern (Bougainvillen, Oleander, Passionsblumen, Geranien und anderen Planzen, auch die anderen Appartments haben riesige Außenbereiche, teilweise mit Garten. Die Anlage gehört zu einer etwas höher am Berg gelegenen Appartmentanlage, die auch deinen Pool hat. Zum Strang muss man entweder 1/2 Std durch die pralle Sonne laufen, aber zur Erkundung der Gegend empfiehlt sich eh ein Auto. Wir sind zum Baden in die übernächste Bucht Agia Fotia gefahren (ca 10 min.)

Great, authentic place!
Heaven if you're looking for a place to run away from a busy lifestyle. Cottages are big, clean and have all luxury items you would get in a luxury hotel. Just love it!

Liebevoll renovierte Natursteinhäuschen mit Blick
Abseits der Hauptstraße in den Bergen über dem Strand liegt ein wohl ehemaliges Dörfchen, dessen Häuser liebevoll renoviert und für Gäste hergerichtet wurden. Unser Haus hatte eine Kochnische und ein gutes Bad im Souterrain, über eine halbe Treppe verbunden mit dem geräumigen Wohnraum und über eine weitere halbe Treppe mit der Schlafnische über Küche und Bad. Die alte Eingangstür ist in der oberen Hälfte zu öffnen, zu unserer Terrasse führte eine kleine Steintreppe auf das weiße Dach unserer Nachbarn. Von dort hatten wir einen herrlichen Blick über die weite Küste und konnten die Herbstsonne genießen. Die Managerin Ioanna war freundlich, wir fühlten uns persönlich willkommen.

Wundervolle ruhige Tage in traditionellem Ambiente
Die gesamte Unterkunft ist absolut perfekt, von der ruhigen Lage über die sehr geschmackvolle Dekoration bis hin zur wundervollen Aussicht auf das Meer und die angenehme Gastfreundschaft der Besitzerin Ioanna. Unser Cottage Doma war sehr geräumig, mit allen Vorzügen, wie einem modernen Bad, Küche, sehr bequemen Bett und w-lan. Dabei hat es dennoch den Charm eines traditionellen Bauernhauses. Wir empfehlen es absolut uneingeschränkt und würden es sofort wieder wählen!

Wir haben eine sehr schöne Zeit in dem Cottage verbracht, es ist wirklich sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und verfügt über alles, was man benötigt. Unbedingt empfehlen kann ich die Taverne direkt am Strand: http://www.avra-studios.com//ankommen.html

Traditionelle Cottages, geschmackvoll eingerichtet
Die Koutsounari Traditional Cottages bestehen aus mehreren, im traditionellen kretischen Stil errichteten Natursteinhäusern und sind im Vergleich zu den zahlreichen Bausünden an der Küstenstraße eine architektonische Wohltat. Die großzügigen Ferienwohnungen sind authentisch sowie mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet und haben jeweils eine kleine Küche, ein modernes Bad sowie eine - teilweise auch schattige - Sitzgelegenheit vor dem Haus mit schönem Blick auf das Meer.

Une parenthèse de rêve
Un cottage charmant et bien entretenu. Grandes pièces, cuisine et salles de bains très correctes. Un accueil chaleureux et une attention permanente de la part de la famille qui gère cet établissement. L'ouzo le soir sur la terrasse quand la fraicheur est enfin là est une pure merveille : vue sur la mer, les amandiers, les bougainvillées et les oliviers. N'oublions pas la compagnie des chats ...
