I love family owned restaurants and hotels as they carry a legacy and this place just ticked all the boxes. Recently renovated with an amazing bathroom, great amenities and clean space to live. Bed was super comfortable. So accessible to the public transport, with options to park if needed. The entire staff was so helpful, always there to guide us. Helped me save money on passes and stuff by giving options. Would stay again when I visit next!

I could give this hotel 10 stars and that wouldnt be enough. I was so impressed by the attention to the littlest of details. They helped us make our quick trip to Grindelwald the best ever...no exaggeration. Thank you to the owners and the entire staff. We'll be back!! ❤️

Charming hotel
Although building is over 100 years old, it has been updated while keeping original features. Very clean and well maintained. Owners are very friendly, service is excellent, food was delicious. The view from our room was stunning.

Hotel Gletschergarten is the absolute Swiss experience located at the edge of town beneath the beautiful alps. As it is family owned , four generations, husband and wife are hands on daily with staff so everything works like clockwork. Continental breakfast is enjoyed with a spectacular morning view. Dinners are delicious, convenient, and optional with a single menu every night.

A Small Hotel with Everything!
Great views! A very nice family hotel, a few blocks "off the beaten path", but still close to everything. Rooms were a nice size (bathrooms a bit small) with a very nice balcony with photographic views. The service was great with a very friendly and helpful staff! Would I stay here again? Yes!

The room’s view is incredible! Dinner was good but we were surprised by the price, which was not mentioned when we ordered it. The towels were old and dingy, time to change them! Many bugs flew into the bathroom at night. The bathroom sink doesn’t drain well.

Wonderful relaxing atmosphere and pleasant staff. Perfect location at the far end of the Main Street, quiet but accessible. Dinner is highly recommended and a good value. Grindelwald museum across the street has unique history of the area and mountaineering activities. I would stay here again.

Nice property. Wraparound balcony had amazing mountain views. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had the fixed price meal for dinner which was excellent. Only downside was a noisy bathroom fan that didn’t go off for a few minutes but when the door was closed you could barely hear it. A really nice place to stay and less than a 5 minute walk to Grindelwald First, which was amazing!

The owners were extremely knowledgeable and helpful concerning the local area. They were also able to print out any passes we needed for all the local lifts, trains, etc. Wonderful accommodations! We loved the authenticity of the hotel and the views of the Alps were spectacular. Very convenient location!! Clean, cozy and comfy! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Delightful Stay at Hotel Gletschergarten
I thorougly enjoyed my three nights at Hotel Gletschergarten. It was clean, quiet, cozy, and convenient to restaurants, bus stops, the train station, and all the gondola lifts. The management team gets five stars for their hospitality.

A beautiful property owned by one family for four generations and lovingly cared for. Attention to detail is apparent everywhere from the high quality meals, the spa, the traditional Swiss decor and the many sitting rooms with comfortable furniture, fireplaces, comfortable beds, washer dryer for guests, a game room, and more. Our room had a wraparound balcony with views of the of the Eiger and snow covered mountains. The hotel is well located near lifts and transportation and a short walk to many restaurants, shops and the sports center. Gary and Gabriela were always available and delightful. We will definitely stay here again.

The owners were very extremely kind and always helpful. The property itself was a bit dated but given the historical nature of the property, it's understandable. The beds were nothing more than a thick foam pad but maybe that's a European standard I'm not familiar with. There was no coffee in the room and if you missed breakfast, you were out of luck as there was no alternative after (or at least when I asked I was told to visit the cafe across the street). The hotel advertised a bar, but no stools are provided to sit and relax so I felt a bit awkward walking in and asking for a drink. They closed at 10PM so a bit early from US standards. You needed your key to lock the room from inside and as someone accustomed to US hotels, that was concerning. I'm accustomed to locking the door with a mechanism and being able to open anytime from inside. We left the key in the door at all times if we needed to exit after locking our room in the event of an emergency. Could you imagine if there was an emergency and we couldn't locate the key? Overall, it's a dated hotel/bed and breakfast but this wouldn't prevent me from staying again. It's a family owned hotel and a lovely family they are :-)

We are happy to know that you had a more or less good stay at our 123 years old family run hotel with a lot of history. ;-)If you prefer a more modern style hotel and everything new we highly recommend to book our son's new hotel next door for your next stay. They will open in December 2022. All beds will be with boxspring mattresses. The ones we have at the Gletschergarten are regular Swiss style and pretty new. Maybe you were indeed not used to them... The new hotel will be called Fiescherblick. Our whole family is very excited about the new project.Wish you had asked for coffee in the room. We have instand sticks to provide to our guests on request.Did you see our lounge in the back with the comfortable sofas and sitting area? A great place to relax after a long day in the mountains.We call the bar "BAR" as many English speaking guest talk about the "BAR" when they see that room We thought that this is the correct expression and we overtook it... Maybe this is a translation and understanding problem... In German we don't call the room you mean "BAR" - we call it "GASTSTUBE" but there is no perfect translation in English for that. ;-) Or how would you translate "GASTSTUBE" for further guests? Would be happy to know the correct name for "Gaststube" in English. Do you have any idea? Anyway, this is not a big thing, is it?If you visit us again in the future then please let us know all your concerns on the spot. This way we get a chance to change what we can during your stay. Charming Hotel
We absolutely loved our three day stay at Gary and Gabriela’s hotel. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived in Grindewalt! Gaby, Gary, their son Lars and their staff made us feel at home until the day we left. They always greeted us with a smile and ask if there was anything else they could do for us, they were super helpful in guiding us around town. We had dinner and breakfast there and absolutely loved every meal. Highly recommend they’re hotel, you will not regret it! The rooms are a bit small but they’re very cozy and comfortable!

Hotel Gletschergarten was a charming and lovely spot! Both Gabriela and Gerhard were incredibly kind and had great recommendations that enhanced our trip. Being able to get our Jungfrau travel tickets from them made it an incredibly seamless process too. I highly recommend this spot!

This is a great property with classic Swiss charm! It was exactly what I was looking for as a place to stay on a recent motorcycle trip around the area. Easy access to everything and I will surely bring my kids back here sometime to either ski or enjoy the summertime activities the area has to offer. 4th generation proprietors Gabriela & Gerhard Michel were gracious hosts!!
