Charming cottage retreat by Shenandoah National Park and Madison Run Trailhead

Madison Run Cottage is the perfect getaway located in a gorgeous and private mountain setting. Guests will enjoy total peace sitting on the deck while listening to the creek surrounded by the 20 acres of forest adjacent to the Shenandoah National Park. Beautiful views are present from every direction and plenty of parking is available on the large property. The front porch is the perfect place to start each day enjoying a cup of coffee before heading out on one of the endless outdoor opportunities.
You will be in the family room when you enter the cottage, it has 2 comfortable chairs and a sofa to relax, play games, or watch tv. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, etc. to make delicious meals. The kitchen closet is where you will find the new washer and dryer. Right off the kitchen is another cozy sitting area and a stove to stay warm on chilly nights. The 1st bedroom has a king bed, dresser, 2 night stands, and closet. The 2nd bedroom is large with a queen bed and a chair to relax, 2 nightstands, cabinet and closet. The 3rd bedroom is small with a twin bed, chair, and closet. The bathroom has a tub/shower combo.
Madison Run Cottage is walking distance to trails in the Shenandoah National Park, 30 mins from Skyline Drive, 20 mins to both Massanutten Resort and James Madison University, and 5 mins from Grand Caverns Park. This is a perfect retreat to relax and enjoy the outdoors, while not being more than 15-20 minutes from the University town of Harrisonburg full of shops and restaurants.

Wonderful hiking is just 1 mile away on Madison Run Trailhead in Shenandoah National Park. Visitors can either drive or walk to the trailhead. To get to the Madison Run Trailhead, you would turn left out of the driveway and then take another left when the road forks. The trail begins at the end of that road. You can just stay on the old fire road, which is so nice or take a small trail up the mountain.

Great experience!
The cottage is cute and very clean. There is a stream that runs through the property. It was peaceful to watch and listen to it from the porches. We spent time at the house and took day trips to Shenandoah National park and Grand Caverns. I would definitely book this same place again.

Cute little place for some R&R
What a pleasant little cottage, centrally located to Harrisburg, Bridgewater, and Staunton with easy access to Shenandoah National Park and several area wineries and breweries. There’s a great porch and deck area to relax and unwind outside, with ample open grassy areas as well.

I might regret giving such a positive review...
because the owner might increase their prices. This was the most PERFECT place we ever stayed. Every attention to detail was present in this wonderful home. Two large (and one small) bedrooms were perfect and the kitchen had everything one would need. The location right next to a creek provided a wonderful escape. Clean and fresh are understatements. A welcome basket and assortment of coffee awaited us. This place was the definition of a perfect VRBO.

Great Rental
My husband and I highly recommend this rental. The home is located in a quiet, beautiful area. There is a trail that goes into Shenandoah National Park less than a mile away. The home is extremely clean, well stocked, comfortable, and the owners included many extras that made us feel welcomed. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here if available.

Beyond expectations!
We had an amazing time! Our stay was extremely quiet and peaceful. We had everything we needed and more with amenities. The cottage was very clean and well organized. We were fortunate to have deer and her fauns in front of her bedroom window in the mornings. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! Host was very responsive. Looking forward to returning in the future.
