Shell Island Resort - All Oceanfront Suites

10/10 Excellent

"The Shell Island Resort has an amazing location. The beach access is phenomenal along with the views from the room balcony. We walked all over the beach, swam in both pools and the cold ocean. The onsite restaurant food was very good, especially after driving all day and not having to go out somewhere for dinner. The staff was friendly but I was surprised when checking out the lady never asked how we enjoyed our stay or anything else for that matter. Quite cold. I was thrilled with having the parking garage so close to the entrance as well as the room itself. Lots of windows, nice kitchenette, two separate bathrooms and those terrific views. I hate to complain, but the water tasted terrible. I would suggest bringing a few gallons with you if you love great tasting coffee in your room. All in all, we will definitely return."

"This was my first time staying at a Trailborn hotel. Based on my stay, I will always look for Trailborn properties. The restaurant food was great. The bar service, OK. There were a few cocktail orders that were wrong or interesting interpretations. Loved all the amenities (hot tub, sauna, bikes, easy surf board rentals) and the staff was all very nice. The hotel was very leaky when we had a huge rainy day. They only came to clean our room once in 4 days. I was told at check out that I was supposed to request room turnover service at check-in but no one asked me. Overall, minor things that did not distract from a wonderful weekend."
