"The Hobbit House was everything we needed. Our home away from home. The property outside was well kept. The interior was very clean. It had all of the amenities we needed. Just bring your clothes. The location was very quiet and safe. We stargazed every night. I gighly recommend this place. We came to visit Oregon Cave National Forest."

"An amazing gem to have fallen upon while traveling to see the Redwood National Park! I wish we had known to book a dinner reservation! The food smelled amazing! Great bed and we had a clawfoot tub in our bathroom! I will definitely make a trip back for this little place! We loved it!"

"The hotel was nice and staff was great. If you come during the week, the dining options are only the casino next-door or a bar across the street. There is a gas station close by that does have healthier options, such as nuts and yogurt."

"Its a beautiful spot. Joe has built himself a slice of paradise. Maybe it was because of the unusal heat wave but no fan and made the cabin super warm. The last night we slept down stairs to avoid the heat. Its not far from town. The views were stunning. I didnt mind the lack of wifi. If you sat outside it was just enough to get my daily wordle in and call it a day. He shared his yummy peaches. Gave us a tour of his orchard.It really is a special spot. He is on the property but more like a nice nieghbor. Gave us privacy and we had the river spot to ourselves most of the day! I have never swam in the Smith River so it was a treat. Joes spot makes you dream of having your own someday. What you need to know:No Temp control other than windows. (Wood stove if your going in winter)Pack like your camping food wise. Stairs are well as others said a bit on the adventurous side.Water pressure is low in shower only for some reason.They have towels, beds and bedding, dishes, some herbs. So bring the rest. We went to town on day 2. Got what we needed. Farted around. It was super pleasant. They have board games too.I cant wait to visit the Smith again! Joe had some locals over after he and they worked all day volunteering clearing trails. They told me about other hikes and local spots. It was a lovely trip. Im glad I got to.meet Joe and see such a beautiful area."

"Our family of 4 (kids are 7 and 9) had the most fantastic stay at Elve Huset! The property is incredible. Surrounded by trees, wildlife, and a quick, rocky walk down to the Smith River (cleanest in the country, arguably the world!). When we weren't out exploring, we lived in the backyard. I loved reading with my coffee in the early morning hours in the swing or on the deck, complete with sounds of the river rushing by and jays pestering me for peanuts. We spent many evenings sitting on the rocks by the river while the kids waded in with water shoes, searching for river critters.The house is spacious, clean, and well-equipped for preparing meals. We had plenty of towels, and the washer/dryer access was key with all the hiking and swimming we did over the course of the week. The street is very quiet; we rarely saw other folks. As for nearby attractions, there is great hiking, you can kayak on the Smith (we loved Smith River Kayaks), wander over to the ocean/beach, as well as relax or swim at some of the river's beaches ("Myrtle Beach" down the road was a hit on warmer days). The host is also super friendly and communicative; he was very quick to respond when I had an issue with the washer (entirely user error, for the record!).Overall, I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was here.
