Cozy getaway

We wanted a short getaway with some privacy and this was amazing! Rustic lodge type house with easy ski out access to the slopes and a hot tub on the deck overlooking a run. We would love to come back!

Golf weekend getaway

Great house for our group of 8. Plenty of beds and lounging areas. Basement is an added perk. Outdoor area is great with hot tub, grill, large yard for lawn games and a firepit. Hosts were communicative and easy to work with. Definitely will try and reserve for next year's trip!

Great stay!

Great house for a few families to enjoy a long weekend! Second year staying and will be a top choice for future stays. Ski slope in the back yard. While we go before there's snow on ground, its great for hiking, campfires, hot tub, grilling, relaxing. No doubt it would be great for a ski trip too. Owner is quick to respond if you have questions.

Great summer getaway!

This house was perfect for our family of 12. It was very clean and spacious with plenty of room to hang out. The kitchen was well equipped for family dinners and had plenty of seating indoors and on the porch. We enjoyed the game room, backyard area and fire pit. The location itself was peaceful and private while offering nearby access to Harbor Springs and Petoskey. Would make a great getaway for any season, we would definitely enjoy staying here again.

Lovely wooded retreat

Our big family group loved the place in early October and can only imagine how great it would be as a ski vacation. Management was very responsive — we had a plumbing issue and they sent an emergency plumber on Friday night. Strange problem that the front door code stopped working after the initial check-in, but the garage entrance remained usable so no harm done. Kitchen is beautifully appointed and the gift of American Spoon jam and BBQ sauce was a sweet Up-North-forward gesture! Great spot for walking on the ski trails behind the house and we enjoyed the hot tub — fire out will have to wait for next time.

Beautiful location and home

It was a great home only complaint is the water was cut off twice on two different days with no warning catching some in the shower. Property manager said city did it both times without giving them notice. I would hope better communication with city could happen to not catch guests off guard

Fantastic!

This is our third year staying in the house and highly recommend it as a ski-in/ski-out property. The flow of the house is condusive to larger families including those with kids. There is a large table that seats ~ 9 people which is great for sharing stories. Also, the game room in the basement is fabulous; the game room is chilly until the fireplace gets going. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and pots and pans. The house is well equiped with bath towels, soap, toilet paper, dishwashing detergent, dish soap, dish towels and laundry detergent. Bring your clothes and food and have a great time!

Nestled in the woods in Harbor Springs

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a delightful time at the Hillside Retreat with family. Although we ran out of time to use the fire pit it was a nice addition. There was plenty of seating for meals and the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed being able to play corn hole and putt putt down at the Highlands. We signed up for horseback riding, mountain biking, the zipline, and attended a delightful show with the Young Americans. We also went to Boyne Mountain for the indoor waterpark on a rainy day. Petoskey State Park is nearby and has a nice beach and hiking trails. The only negative was the washing machine which needs to be replaced.

This is a great home that accommodated our large group very comfortably.

The house was great, but there were a few issues. First the drive way was a solid sheet of ice several inches thick, walking on it was precarious at best. The stairs leading up to the front door were also covered with ice. The owner expects the garage door to remain closed, so when we had friends come to visit they had to go up the outside stairs and more than a few people slipped. The next issue is no fault of the owner nor did they try to hide it, but the early closing of the lift and no night skiing on that section of the mountain really limited the actual practicality of ski in ski out. Despite these few things this was a great property and we had a ton of fun.

Exceeded All Our Expectatons

This house is spectacular. It is located directly on Louis Lane trail about 300 yards below the summit at Boyne Highlands. The views are amazing at the top of the mountain and the scenery is so serene and peaceful. The house itself is as they say, brand new. This log home is even more impressive in person than in the photos. Not at all what you expect in a typical rental home. There is no carpeting to get wet and moldy..., which was good for my husband's allergies. All of the flooring is clay tile (which stayed warm) or wood. There are windows everywhere. The appliances were top-notch stainless steel and the kitchen was full stocked with items our large group needed to cook meals. We also liked the fact that the game room had a second full-size fridge. And most importantly, the beds were comfortable. I actually slept better here than I do at home. With this remote location, we expected that the amenities might suffer a bit, but we were pleasantly surprised that we were easily able to log onto high-speed wireless Internet and use it throughout the entire house. Some of our cell phones didn't work, but they provided a landline with free national calling along with cable and a nice entertainment system in the great room... CD/DVD player, flat screen TV, surround sound. There was a big screen TV in the game room. The picture quality wasn't all that great, but it was perfect for the kids to play their video games on. We very much enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub looking at the stars at night. Next to the location, this was a big part of why we selected this house... and it was worth it! The owners answered all of our questions about the house and provided us with directions, instructions for entering the house (it is coded), recommendations for local restaurants and grocery stores as well as instructions for things like the hot tub. They promptly returned our security deposit. We took advantage of the excellent ski conditions during our trip and expect we'll come back this summer for some golf. This is an amazing place and I would highly recommend it to all my family and friends

Great place and location with a catch

The house is great, clean, well appointed and easy to get to the lifts by skiing right out the back. The catch is that the only lift that serves this side of the hill closes an hour before everything else. If you’re not careful you may get stranded at the base with no easy way back to the house. We enjoyed the stay a great deal. However, for open to close skiers or boarders it’s a little disappointing that you have to drive to the main base area anyway if you want to have an easy way home after.
