Tri Pysgodyn, Holiday Cottage Abercastle, Sleeps 4, 2 bedrooms, bathrooms

Tri Pysgodyn (Three Fishes) is a beautifully restored fisherman’s cottage in Abercastle, steeped in history and coastal charm. Built over 180 years ago, this southwest-facing retreat retains many of its original period features, while being thoughtfully modernised to offer stylish, comfortable self-catering accommodation for up to four guests. Tucked away in an idyllic and peaceful spot just a stone’s throw from the beach, the cottage enjoys glorious sea views from both the house and the garden.Step inside through the handy entrance porch — perfect for boots, coats and walking gear — and you’re welcomed into a spacious open-plan living area that blends old and new with ease. At one end is a well-equipped modern kitchen and traditional dining space, the original Inglenook fireplace is now home to a characterful Welsh dresser. At the other end, a second stone fireplace with a cosy log-burning stove creates the perfect place to relax on comfortable sofas after a day outdoors. Throughout the ground floor, stunning flagstone flooring and underfloor heating ensure the cottage stays wonderfully warm and inviting, whatever the season.A spiral staircase leads upstairs to two light and airy bedrooms, both with lovely sea views. The main bedroom features a king-size bed and a convenient en-suite washroom, while the twin bedroom can be converted into a king-size bed on request. A sleek, modern family bathroom completes the accommodation.Outside, a sheltered terraced area immediately in front of the cottage offers a bench where you can sit with a coffee, soak up the view and watch the world go by. Steep steps lead up to the garden — a true suntrap with breath-taking coastal views and unforgettable sunsets.Set in the heart of picturesque and unspoilt Abercastle Cove, Tri Pysgodyn is surrounded by natural beauty and local heritage. The cove is still used by working fishermen landing fresh fish and lobsters, while the ancient Neolithic Carreg Samson stands watch from the nearby hilltop. There’s a small beach, fascinating rock pools at low tide, and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs past the door, offering dramatic cliffs, hidden inlets, sea arches and caves. Seals — and their pups in late summer and autumn — are often spotted along the way.Abercastle is a popular spot for swimming, kayaking, paddle-boarding and coasteering, and the quiet country lanes make it an excellent base for cycling. Nearby villages such as Trefin and Mathry offer welcoming pubs, while a little further afield is the vibrant harbour village of Porthgain, home to the famous Sloop Inn, The Shed fish bistro, art galleries and locally made ice cream. The spectacular St Davids Peninsula offers golf, surfing, hill walking, boat trips to offshore islands to see puffins, dolphins and occasionally whales, as well as visits to Britain’s smallest City, St Davids, with its magnificent medieval Cathedral, Bishop’s Palace, independent shops and restaurants. Fishguard and St Davids both host a variety of music and cultural festivals throughout the year.Whether you’re seeking a family adventure, an activity-filled escape, or a peaceful and romantic coastal break, Tri Pysgodyn is a truly special place to stay — a homely, traditional cottage in one of Pembrokeshire’s most beautiful settings. Not suitable for young children due to spiral staircase. Babes in arms welcome. Please Note: Cots are not provided, please call 01437 765765 if you would like to hire a cot from Coastal Cottages.Low beamed ceilings.
