  • The Switchback House was built in the early 1900's and has recently been fully remodeled. Families find this to be the perfect home to share memories. Our home is in a quiet area of West Broadway, yet still within walking distance to the Historic District. The house even sits on an access point to the famous Switchback Trail - perfect for hiking and biking! Jim Thorpe also offers whitewater rafting or winter activities at Blue Mountain. Please don't hesitate to ask us questions about the area!

Beautiful property

My friends and I booked this place last minute when our other house canceled on us 2 days before. We stayed here over new years and had a blast. Owner was very accommodating and communicated well. The place was super clean and in a great location within walking distance to the town. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Visiting Jim Thorpe is a great experience all in itself. Staying in this lovely cozy home is just icing on the cake! It’s in a great location and it’s got everything needed to accommodate your needs for your extended stay! Great week, Hiking in your back yard, swimming and fishing up the road, a bike ride down the street. Enjoyed the town and the house was great! Well equipped with anything you would need. Very clean. Nice owners and neighbors.

House was great for 4 friends taking a weekend trip to Jim Thorpe. It had everything you’ll need for a stay and was clean and accurately advertised. The walk downtown was easy and convenient and the local grocery store was a close drive. The hosts have a wall of brochures for local business and activities and a very thorough and informative notebook for the house and local activities. The host was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to messages. We found some amazing restaurants and fun shops downtown. The train ride was amazing - first class is the way to go even though I expect the open air car is fun as well. Bonus activity was the local escape room. It’s run by a local family and was super fun.

Great spot to enjoy the town!

We spent a cold weekend in Jim Thorpe after Thanksgiving to relax, shop, and bike, and Jill's home was the perfect cozy spot for our family (3 adults, 2 kids). The main shopping and dining area of the town is a few blocks' walk down the hill. Bedrooms were comfortable and private, the kids (age 5 & 7) enjoyed the attic TV room, and the kitchen had all that we needed to cook meals. Private parking was a big plus and we even took the kids on a short hike on the Switchback Trail right outside of the back yard. This would be a great spot in all seasons. We'd love to come back again!

Sibling Trip - Again!

This was not our first trip to Jim Thorpe staying at The Switchback House. We absolutely love everything about it. From its cleanliness, to the charming decor highlighting Jim Thorpe/Mauch Chunk's past, to the location - we can walk to everything we need. The private off-street parking is the icing on the cake! We're bound to return ... Again!

Girls weekend

First time visiting Jim Thorpe and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Felt like home the minute we walked in! It deserves a five star rating because of the care you can see in the house. Clean, organized and quality products. Bathroom had plenty of new towels and extras like shampoo, lotion etc. Extra pillow and blankets. We didn't cook but the cupboards are filled with everything needed. They even had phone chargers for use! I will definitely be renting here again for our next visit.
