Traditional Japanese room with futons only in an old but well maintained hotel. Convenient location, a few minutes walking from the ferry, main roads and attractions.
The staff was amazing, the location was central to the shopping street, Omotesando and their dinner/breakfast were delicious. I can't think of a reason not to stay at this hotel!!
The hotel was very nice. The staff from the front desk to the dining were TERRIFIC, especially the main person at the dining rooms. Everyone was cordial and informative.
Beautiful traditional tatami hotel. You pay a huge premium for staying on Miyajima and it’s worth every penny. Lovely staff. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but found several lovely places nearby.
Having it being my first time in Hiroshima as well as Miyajima Island, I’d say that it was the best decision ever! The ease of everything was very satisfying. The ferry was a great experience as well! Seeing the sheer amount of people that visited during my stay definitely made my time there much more enjoyable while dodging crowds. One thing to note during the stay there is that the deer are everywhere and that they will come up to you lol! Try not to leave anything out that will spark their curiosity or hunger lol! The Hotel is a very short walk through the town, making it a nice and easy walk after a long day of traveling. Hotel and staff make it very comfortable upon walking in as it is a homely environment altogether. Definitely take advantage of the amenities and the breakfast and dinner options! If you’re a picky eater, definitely send your requests ahead of time. Also, the bath is amazing and open from 6am to midnight! Make sure to relax there at the start and end of your day! Another thing to note are the groups and trips that come there so on around them as necessary. In closing, if you want to experience Itsukushima Shrine before the crowds and the surrounding areas, stay here🔥
I forgot to add the many stores and restaurants! For the beer lovers, there is a good brewery on the island as well as a beer vending machine lol
Hotel was easily walkable from the ferry with a little hill at the very end. Very nice room and super nice staff. The Ryokan had more of a corporate feel but still nice. If I were to plan my trip to Japan all over I wouldn't spend the night on Miyajima and would instead just make the island a long day trip. This was my most expensive hotel of my two week trip and while nice, clean, and a good traditional breakfast I don't think it was worth the money.
If you’re looking to experience a traditional Japanese stay, with a Ryokan feel this place has it. Amazing service and amenities, including the Yakutas in the room that I regret not buying. Clean and beautiful. The public onsen was lovely and quiet, there is also an option to book a private onsen slot for no extra fee. The island is amazing and the oysters (however you like them) are a must-try.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and we enjoyed the view on the small sun porch. But by far the most amazing aspect of our visit was the dining option. We signed up for the breakfast and dinner, and they were five star restaurant worthy. An incredible delightful assortment of delicious dishes at every meal. Don’t miss it!
The Miyajima Hotel Makoto was a lovely stay. The room was traditional and beautiful. The staff extremely welcoming. The area was quiet yet convenient. Would stay again.
We loved our stay at the hotel. They were very accommodating and even picked up our luggage from the ferry terminal so that we could maximize our time. I highly recommend.
