Clean quiet basic accommodation with good breakfast. Above all we really appreciated the help we received from Yen on reception with booking onward buses and hotels. She was great.

Good location. Super friendly and helpful staff. Loved the breakfast. The room we got given was on the ground floor with a window that faced a wall and a safe that did not work, so first impressions were not great. We asked about the safe and they changed our room to a second floor room with windows onto the street below. Although noisier, this was much preferable. The room was clean and not too far to walk to get to things.

Great hotel in a great area
This hotel is a tad hard to find but it’s in the perfect backpackers area and is still quiet enough to sleep. Very friendly staff and adequate breakfast.

Big damp/mould patch on roof of our room with really bad smell of damp. Asked to move on several occasions but no other rooms available. Otherwise good location, friendly staff.

Lovely small hotel
The hotel is really nice, but it's quite difficult to find it. The room was nice and clean. They serve amazing breakfast. The hotel is close to the market and streets with bars and restaurants. And 20 minutes away from the Skybar.

Great location and nice staff
The room and bathroom were quite small but great shower and helpful staff. Well located in busy area of Saigon but away from traffic noise. Breakfast was very good with lovely baguette or traditional food.

For the price..it is worth it.
Wonderful, helpful and gentle staff don't make up for the small rooms and the constant noise of construction. For the price though, it is a good budget option in a GREAT location with a nice breakfast. Won't stay here again as there are other options but the staff are beautiful.

friendly staff
the staff here is very friendly and nice. we can feel the welcoming when we step into the hotel. I was assigned to 3rd floor hotel's room but reassigned to 1st floor immediately when I told them my wife is pregnant. Hotel location is quite nice, it's inside a small alley in the busy tourist area. can find very good beef noodles soup less than 100 meters away and near to busy night life just 300 meters away. the hotel is not as noisy because it's not right in the busy area but it's also not as quiet especially in the morning. Breakfast is not bad. overall, value for money and I like the hospitality.

Strong coffee and delicious breakfast!
The check in process was easy and the hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was clean with strong AC and a hard bed. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee was strong with free refills. Very nice common area for reading and relaxing. Central to the nightlife and many good restaurants and street vendors.

Was given a level 5 room and there was no elevator to take get up. The last flight of stairs were particularly small and steep, making for a dangerous climb.

Budget Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City
Very well located in tourist area. Within walking distance of must sees.. ie Post Office,Cathedral,Reunification Palace, The Water Puppet Theatre & The Ben Thanh Market. Have stayed here many times.

When we check-in they told us they don't have enough rooms for us and simply shift us to those high floor rooms of its' neighbour hotels and guesthouse in poor conditions and without elevator. No elevator in the Blue River hotel too. The photos they put it on the Expedia are not taken from this hotel. We had been cheated.

Cheap backpacker area hotel
Staff was very polite and did a good job. Breakfast was small but tasty and there are some pretty cheap traveling agencies in close proximity. We used one to book trips to Cu Chi, Mekong delta and a restaurant run with motorbikes. I found out we had good prices when I asked other tourists what they had paid for same trips.

The location (District 1) is great for those wanting late nights and a wide variety of restaurants. Air con good. Wifi unknown as i had a local sim. The bus station is less than 3minutes away but this is where it ends. If you want an uninterrupted sleep look elsewhere. Windows are paper thin and you hear all the activity from the alleyway. You hear every guest entering the hotel as it echos from top the bottom. I needed to wear ear plugs. Breakfast i wouldn't even feed to a dog! Rooms are dated and feel quite dingy. Bathrooms need a revamp, although shower gel provided. Beds wernt that comfortable and only made once in 3 nights. Safe provided. Laundry place next door. Overall price okay but to many negatives.

Great Location
Booked for Blue River hotel but was send to opp Blue River Hotel 3 for 2 nights stay. I got my room (501) on the rooftop with a Balcony and view. Please note Hotel has no lift. Location is great with many eating stalls around and you can goes to airport via service 109 (20000VND) which is 5 mins walk from hotel to the Bus Interchange. Only setback is no Free drinking water provided in room.

Below all expectations
PROS: Rooms were relatively clean. Good price. Housekeeping was friendly and did a good job. CONS: Most importantly, I believe the free breakfast made my wife and I sick. It is located in the backpacker area which in general is gross and full of locals begging for you to buy from them. There are nicer and cleaner places to stay for the same price. We had to stay in 3 rooms over 3 nights. In one room the ac would not cool below 30c. Another room was infested with gnats and had large holes in the wall hidden behind bedside tables. There is no elevator. The staff woke us up in the mornings. One time to force us to change rooms and the other time to tell us to check out when we were booked for one more night.

Best for bed, breakfast and budget kind of stay. We spent the entire day sightseeing and returned only to sleep. Breakfast is simple and sifficient. Cant complain about the rooms for fare. An elevator is almost a luxury for budget hotels in this area and its not present in this hotel. We had to change our rooms to a lower floor so that we dont have climb 5-6 floors at night half dead. Plenty of places around for drinks, dance and dinner.The staff is courteous and helpful.

Blue River was really good experience. Location was good, quiet alley but still next to Bui Vien and bus station to get airport (bus 109). All kind of restaurants, shops and travel agencies just a short walk. Reception was welcoming and Peter and other staff was really nice. You have to leave your passport there for moment that they register your details but after that you get it back (or you can leave it to reception for your stay). There is narrow staircase to the rooms and no elevator. A lot of stairs so remember to get all your things when you go out, so you don't have to climb up and down many times. Room was quite small but clean and really nice looking. We had also small balcony to the alley. Bathroom was also clean and quite new. There was tv, fridge and water boiler in the room. Wifi was free but it was really slow most of the time. Breakfast was included, you got to choose one option from the list. With that there was also coffee/tee/juice and bananas. Not huge portion but it was good. Definitely can recommend this place!

Smelly room but great location
The room smelled terribly bad from the bathroom and I didn't really like the staff (felt a bit uneasy around them). However, the room was modern and the bed quite good for being in Asia. The breakfast was not much but ok. Lovely location with a lot going on around but still quieter at night than just 50 meters away.

Nice place in backpacker district
Went there when we first arrived in Saigon. Pickup service from airport is useful albeit a bit expensive. You can take a Mahlin (green cab) from the airport and it's way cheaper.

Great customer service!
Really good customer service, we were given a free room upgrade on arrival. We also had our tours and bus to Phnom Penh organised for us. The receptionist even walked us to the bus depot in the morning

You get what you pay for
Very disappointed with my 10 stay at this hotel. Had I known the following - I would never have booked this hotel: At the time of booking my stay, Blue River offered me a airport pick-up service for $US 17, I accepted, on arrival I waited nearly 1 hour at Saigon Airport - no arranged transport appeared - I decided to get a taxi (Vinasun) instead, it cost almost half the price that the Blue River were gonna charge me = $17 - what's that all about Blue River? Major renovation works were being carried out to the adjacent building, every morning from 07:30 - 17:00, the unbearable noise would start, the only way to get any restbite from the noise was to go out for the day - I did at one point (3rd day into my stay) ask the hotel reception staff when the noise would cease 'renovation work nearly finished sir' was the reply. Sheets were never changed during the course of my stay. No courtesy bottled water - charged for water if you used the bottled water. Wifi in the room - poor. Early morning noise (people talking/shouting) from below my widow at the rear of the building. Breakfast was adequate. Staff were very polite & friendly. To sum up, this is a budget hotel in the backpackers area of District 1, I've stayed in many budget hotel's/guesthouses etc, in various parts of the world, this hotel would have been ok for my stay, however, because of the noise polutiion - I was glad to leave - never will I return to the Blue River.

This is a budget hotel with a vision for excellence. Friendly service eager to please. Good location for back packers and party lovers. Views from windows are just walls, wires and roof tops. The rooms are nice, and the bathroom clean. Wifi was ok and cable tv clear. The weak points are breakfast - 1 star. The $17 usd airport transfer was in an old vehicle. Catch a new taxi for half the price.

The hotel was nice and located in a good area near the night market, restaurants and buses to Cambodia. The staff however gave us very poor information about the border to Cambodia that ended up costing us a lot of money and causing a lot of stress that could have been easily avoided had they provided us accurate info.
