Romantik Hotel Beau Rivage

"The hotel is a little outdated. The room doesn’t have AC , only a little portable cooling system with a pipe out of the window, but the pipe was not hooked on the window just leaving an empty hole next to the bed. The check in at 2pm is too early, the room are not ready at all. So we left the luggage in the dirty room unattended or have a choice to leave by the front desk area without supervision. There’s one tiny elevator but the housekeeping keep using it so a lot of time have to wait or use stairs, the bedding has some funky smell."

"Great position on the Lake with easy access into Luzern, CHF4 each way. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with standalone Aircon which proved useful during our visit. Be aware most room do not have an unrestricted view of the lake due to a property in front of the hotel. Breakfast is taken across the road at the old hotel, but is good. The restaurant is in the same location across the road and we had a reasonable meal there. There is also a good Brazilian restaurant nearby. Be aware parking whilst easy costs CHF10 per night. Would we go again. Probably yes"

"Clean room and very quiet beautiful location. However, location is 30-45 minutes outside of Lucerne and transportation is very limited and expensive. Ubers are not frequent in that location so need to reserve ahead of time and only some Ubers will come out that far. Would recommend paying more to stay in town to be accessible to shopping and restaurants. If looking for relaxing location, it is a good choice."

"Location is good. Town is beautiful however the hotel does not deserve to be ranked as a 4 star hotel due to how dirty rooms were. We had three rooms. 2 rooms had spider webs and other insects . One room smelled like a rotten cheese that the staff was aware of and changed to another room. I cannot believe that the regional health department allows this hotel to operate this way !"

"Nice clean rooms and a good breakfast. Parking spaces were very tight and the lot was always full (holiday weekend). The check-in process was difficult and we had to call support to actually get our key activated; other people were having the same problem. But overall a nice property and a great location."
Swiss-Chalet Merlischachen - Historik Chalet-Hotel Lodge

"We stayed at the chalet across the street from the reception for 2 nights. Worst experience ever. Room is very hot, dark (incandescent bulb lighting which adds to the heat), bathroom smells like cigarettes, floors creak, and you can hear everyone who comes in and out of the place. Pictures of the lodge are very deceiving and combined with the newer, more expensive hotel where the reception is. It is also very challenging to get to if you’re taking the train from Lucerne especially if you have big luggages. It is less than 5 minutes walk from station to hotel but the street from station to the road is on a very steep hill. The only saving grace would be the breakfast and the views thus the 1 star. Other than that, it would be a zero."

"I stayed with family. I loved the breakfast - Most definitely 10/10. It was very complete and everything was delicious. I also used the spa, which was exactly what I needed after a day of walking. The hotel is only 5 minutes away from beautiful Rapperswil."

"The location is fantastic but everything else about the hotel is not quite as good as it could have been. Small touch ups would go a long way to improve the property. The patios off of the rooms were great locations with a beautiful view but the railings were rusty and the paint on the door frame was chipped. Additionally, it was very hot and the information card said there were fans available upon request. When we asked for one we were told there weren’t any. We asked again later and were given one. Such a simple thing but why did we need to ask twice? It seemed like each time there was a small issue the staff would eventually find a solution but it took asking multiple times and was more hassle than it needed to be. All of that said, the location is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay overall."
