Anna Maria Island’s noise ordinance aims to ensure citizens can enjoy a peaceful environment. The ordinance applies to all areas of the city, including public and private property, and places of business. It defines noise as any sound that annoys or disturbs a reasonable person of ordinary sensibilities or causes or tends to cause an adverse physical or psychological effect on such reasonable person. The noise ordinance limits the maximum permissible noise levels to:
7 AM–10 PM: 65 decibels: (Consistently shouting in the pool exceeds 65 decibels)
10 PM–7 AM: 50 decibels: (An audible conversation from 50’ or 15 meters away exceeds 50 decibels)
The ordinance also prohibits plainly audible noise, which refers to any sound that can be clearly heard by a person using their normal hearing faculties. This means that a person can still be in violation if the noise can be easily heard by responding officers from a distance of 100 feet from the property line. Fines for excessive noise can range from $100 to $1,000.

Our time on Anna Maria Island

Upon entering the condo, my husband and I immediately smelled stale smoke that led to my coughing the entire time that I was there. I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. I called Heaven and Frank at the office and they were of great help. Heaven had a large air purifier delivered to the unit. She also sent someone over to fix the ceiling fan in the bedroom as it was not working properly. The tv remote was very difficult to operate and I would suggest that this be upgraded to a user friendly device. In spite of the smoke residue and smell, the unit was clean and the bedding was fresh and bathrooms were clean. The neighborhood was a bit noisy at times, but we loved the pool and and the floatation toys that were left. We also loved that the beach access was very convenient. And of course we loved all of our favorite restaurants on AMI. We have been coming there for over 25 years. The stale cigarette smoke/residue was the first negative ( other than one unit having rusty beach chairs), issue that we have experienced. Thank you for allowing us to provide our honest feedback.
