Motel was run by nice people who didn't speak English well... It was their second language. I don't know if our room was the only one available or if his eagle eyes saw my mother's limited mobility but he gave us a ground floor room which was perfect. The AC barely worked and took hours to get close to the set temperature and for about 2 hours someone kept tapping on the wall, but eventually stopped and we were able to get to sleep.

Management is awesome. Room is basic, I get it. I paid for the motel and it is what I expecting. But the lighting, it just feels like living in the ghost room. With the same basic level setup the room can at least look a bit nicer. Bathroom smells, and when you shower you do it in a real darkness. I stayed in some real budget motels, but this one isn’t that exceptional for a mid-8 of 10 rating.

The property itself wasn’t bad at all but the owners are very rude and disrespectful. I was coming down from 4 hours away to visit my sister and her 4 month old daughter and he told me and my wife we couldn’t have guests over to our room. Then he proceeded to argue with me over hotel policy in which it does not say anything about having guests in our room. Will not be staying here again and will be leaving reviews on other sites

Cheap, but not worth it.
Others have given Horse cave motel very high ratings, Maybe there room was better than mine. First the good ,the price, very afordable. The microwave, fidge and AC worked.the bed although not uncomfortable had only a bed spread and a sheet, no blanket available. The bed spreads in a non smoking room where both full of burns and the room smelled heavly of smoke.The dresser had two drawers, one had no bottom.The desk chair was so dirty I could not sit in it.I brought my bag chair from my car to sit on.The bathroom has plaster falling of the ceiling from a leak. the sink had wiskers from a previous quest in it and had a light on one side so I could shave one side of my face and quess about the other side. The shower had a good shower head and good pressure but also had gaps in the tiling and mold.On my second night the Manager or owner, I don't know which, came over while I was sitting outside with the door open to air the room out and pretty aggressively told me I was exspecting to much for the price I paid. He was reponding to my reply to expedia's email about check in. He said he would give me a refund and I should leave. And I would have but because of LS Fest, that I was a part of the entire area was booked. Although he refused to give me his name, to his credit he did come over and apologize on my last night. To the people rated this motel highly ,I hope you had a better room. If your rating was just trying to be nice, you have done great disserivce to the future quests.

Price was right for one night passing thru. Older motel but clean. Has micro/fridge. Bathroom floor could use TLC tho. Would stay here again.

The guy at check in was very friendly, but I’m glad I only stayed one night. My room smelled like smoke (supposed to be non-smoking) and the bathroom smelled like urine.

Just a nice little spot in Horse Cave, KY.
The Horse Cave Motel is a great little place to stay. Now keep in mind, it is older, and there's nothing fancy about it, but the room was clean and comfortable, check in was easy, and the owner is very nice. It's also very affordable. The only thing I didn't like, and there's really nothing that can be done about this, but the bathroom in my room was laid out badly. There's very little room between the wall of the shower, and the vanity, making it difficult to get to the toilet. Now, it's not a problem if you're a skinny little thing, but I am not...LMFAO! No complaints, just an overall nice, affordable place to stay. Oh, and the owner offered me a complimentary water or soda when I was checking out...very nice!

This is a nice throwback to the old reputable "Mom and Pop" Motels. It is older and very retro, but safe, scrupulously clean inside and out and with very friendly service at a good rate. If you just need a nice comfortable place for a night or two, this will be perfect.

Sort of quaint old property with many repairs. Smells like urine, ashes, and fresh paint. Friendly receptionist. Only one light on desk and one by sink; the shower and closet and bed are in the dark.

First, the good part: 1) The front desk staff was great. The room was clean and the price very reasonable. Now the bad: The comforter on the bed was thin and stained. There were no spare blankets and the room was cold. The HVAC unit was hard to operate, and when it did (eventually turn on laste that night) it was very noisy. The bed itself was reasonably comfortable, but the metal bed frame squeezed every time you got in or out of bed. The bathroom was clean, but there was no door for it. And the window allowed a substantial amount of light around the curtains. So between, the light and the fan noice, I did not sleep all that well. Also, no breakfast (but given the price, that’s to be expected) and no freshly made coffee in the morning - although there was a 1 cup coffee maker in the room - which I did not try. In summary, it was tolerable for an overnight stop over, but not much more.

The beading was filthy! Some DIRTY sweaty hairy person slept in the bed & the bedding was never changed on either bed. It was disgusting!!! Also, $15 per non-shedding, 5lb dog cost us an addt’l $45 for one night. RIDICULOUS!!! We’ll never stay there again.

The wife and i loved it. If your looking for fancy with all the frills you may be unsatisfied. If you're looking for a quiet, clean, comfortable place to sleep dont hesitate to book with horse cave motel. Owner was kind and attentive. He even walked us to our room.
