Designed and built by world renowned artist, builder and ecologist Dan Phillips, this unique property was built to include recycled materials such as bottle caps for ceiling designs, broken mirror shards to form mosaic bathroom walls and thousands of decommissioned Texas license plates used as roofing shingles.

Cool house and better hosts
We stayed at cedarhousetx for my daughter’s SHSU graduation. The house was the perfect size for our 4 adults. Everything is current. The house has an older vibe, but with all the latest and best tech. The bathtub is incredible, it may be worth a trip to Huntsville just for the claw foot tub. Lots of deck area for entertaining, and it has an immaculately cared for propane grill. There is a turntable with some vinyl records available to help set the mood. The hosts were beyond accommodating, and responded to question almost instantly. This was by far our most carefree trip via VRBO.

Wonderfully Eclectic
Myself and two of my friends who live in different areas met in this general location to reconnect for a few days. We chose this wonderful location because it was so close to the square. We could walk anywhere. There were lots of shops and restaurants that were very delicious. The house itself and the proprietors were wonderful. The house is filled with so much charm and so many interesting items. It was also filled by the proprietors with wonderful drinks and ice cream and cookies lots of condiments, dishes, silverware, kitchen appliances, and everything else to make a fantastic stay for us. We were so happy that we chose the little Art house as our place to meet up and reconnect. You will not be disappointed as it had All of the admin that you would ever need.

The Cedar House was perfect!! Extremely easy to find, comfortable beds, loved the Texas themed decorations. Close to town, check in was easy no problems, house was clean and inviting!! Thank you!!

Mags Family visits Sam Houston State
We took our teenage boys to Huntsville as we’re getting ready for college life in a few years to just show them around campus and a college town. It’s changed immensely since we went there, but is still a neat little big town. The Cedar House did not disappoint! Very close to town, yet, you don’t feel like you’re in town at all - it’s a quiet neighborhood. The house has everything you need and the owners were very accessible. I highly suggest visiting this cute little cottage hou, we definitely plan on returning!!
