Disappointing Stay – Lacking Basic Amenities and SupportWe booked this property during our holiday in Inverness, expecting a comfortable and convenient place to rest, do laundry, and prepare simple meals before our daily tours. Unfortunately, the experience fell well below expectations, and we feel it’s important to share our experience so future travelers are fully informed. While the listing appeared promising, the reality was quite different. Several issues made our stay uncomfortable and frustrating:•The washer/dryer combo was not 100% functional, at least on the synthetics cycle. After multiple attempts, it failed to dry our clothes, leaving us to pack damp laundry for the next leg of our trip.•The refrigerator didn’t cool properly, which meant we had to throw away all of our perishable groceries. I’m not sure if it was turned off or what, but we didn’t have ice in the ice tray until the last morning.•There were no basic toiletries provided — no soap, shampoo, or conditioner.•The unit lacked a hairdryer and washcloths, and the bath towels were left on the bed, giving more of a hostel impression than a holiday rental.•No paper towels or basic kitchen supplies were available.•The heating system made the apartment oppressively hot — even for us, coming from Houston, Texas. Despite efforts to turn it off, we ended up sleeping with the windows and balcony door open just to make the temperature bearable.• The bed was not a king like advertised…

We specifically selected this accommodation based on the advertised king-size bed, which was a critical factor in our booking decision given that my husband is 6'6" tall and requires adequate sleeping space for comfort.Upon arrival, we discovered that the bed provided is actually a queen-size bed, not the king-size bed as advertised. This discrepancy was further confirmed by a note left by the previous guest (attached for reference), indicating that the bed was replaced just prior to our arrival. We noted that the current listing continued to advertise a king-size bed and displays corresponding photographs, which creates a misleading representation of the actual accommodations.Had we been aware of this change prior to our arrival, we would have made alternative arrangements and selected a different property that could accommodate our specific needs. We paid a premium for this accommodation specifically to ensure access to a king-size bed for our two-night stay.We attempted to contact VRBO, cottages.com and the landlord directly and only heard back from VRBO with an initial investigation number but have yet to hear a resolution from any party and it has now been 7 days since we checked out. Also, the check-in process is not very well detailed. You have to locate a locker, in the lobby, with the associated apartment number on it and there is a key box inside of the door. This is not well outlined on the check-in instructions.
