"In a week of rain we managed to find many dry days. The location of the village was outstanding with views of the loch and an abundance of birdlife ( I counted 40 species in the area in the week). Melfort has great access to the isles through Oban and the coastline along the A 816 offers opportunities for gardens (Arduaine) and loch views from Ardfern. "We were very happy with our accommodation. Bad luck that the restaurant was closed but we made good use of the gorgeous old Pub just down the road. Pool was great as were other facilities."

"Melfort was an excellent base for exploring this beautiful part of the world. The cottage was very well equipped and staff very helpful ,welcoming and dog friendly ( especially Olwynn). Good walking and stunning scenery on the doorstep. My only quibble was the fact that it isn't made very clear until after booking that electricity is charged extra ."

"The setting is idyllic in lovely peaceful surroundings, nature all around. The cottage is large, airy and bright and everything you could need was provided. Although quite a distance from Oban, the main road was pretty quiet and a pleasant drive. The pool was an added bonus, but the sauna wasn't working. We were there on the hottest weekend of the year, so didn't need the sauna."

"We stayed only two nights. The property is about 30 minutes outside of Oban at the edge of a smaller loch and just outside a small village. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, including when we had an issue (likely self-inflicted) with a washing machine. We would definitely stay again, and make time to stay longer and enjoy more of the area as well as the property’s many amenities. Strongly recommended."

"Sadly we only had a very short 1 evening stay at this beautiful location. We would have enjoyed more time here. In that short time we received above and beyond care. I asked where we might be able to find ice when checking in. The nearest market was already closed for the evening. Olwen from reception was so nice. She said she couldn’t promise, but her husband might be able to help. An hour or so later her husband knocked on the door with our special delivery. So incredibly kind. Thank you...

"This was our first visit to the West Highlands and we were not disappointed. A beautifully maintained resort within a spectacular setting. We had planned to visit the islands during the week but found so much to do locally we decided to save the islands for a future visit. We particularly enjoyed the local walks from the resort which we purchased from reception for £1 on arrival. "Although I filled in a questionnaire and handed it in at Melfort Village reception when I left I have completed this one as well because I really enjoyed my week there.The weather was lovely and the views to die for. My friends and I had a day on Luing with lunch at the Atlantic Islands Centre which was excellent. Disappointing that the Shower of Herring was closed from Monday.My only complaint was that when I arrived on Saturday Sept.14th in torrential rain and gales there was no heating on...
