Great stay in a lovely apartment
We extended our stay in Melfort village and were rewarded with beautiful weather. Upper Cooperage is a lovely comfortable apartment which now has an ensuite shower room as well as main bathroom. Everything we need is provided and the village is so peaceful and relaxing. All the staff are welcoming & helpful & the Monday music night was great fun. Recommend a stay here.

A great time to regenerate. Ever so peaceful. The reception staff and other personnel went out of their way to help us. A great place for visiting the surrounding area. Thank you

A home-from-home that's a joy to visit.
A comfortable home-from-home, with all the amenities one could need. I stayed in this property several years ago, but it's been upgraded since then. The en-suite shower-room (with its pocket door) is a masterful use of space, and, I'm sure, very useful when there is full occupancy.
I usually visit here in Autumn, so it was a pleasure to see Melfort Village and the surrounding area in a different season. The warm weather meant I could profit from the outdoor seating on the balcony, another nice touch.
It's always a pleasure to go to Melfort at any time of the year with friendly staff, good services on-site, and plenty to see and do in the area. I'd highly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting Argyll.

A wonderful apartment in a great location
We have stayed at Melfort Village many times before, mostly in the Walled Garden, and we love it. We have never stayed in Upper Cooperage before. We missed the view down to the loch but that was perfectly made up for by the convenience of being in the heart of the village, making popping into reception or to the Shower of Herring a very short stroll.
As always the accommodation was spotlessly clean and well appointed. We didn’t find the bed in the main bedroom comfortable and the staff were only too happy to put the twin beds in the other room together for us. That of course meant we’d used extra bedding during our stay, but there was not the slightest hint that we were being awkward or inconveniencing them.
We’ll be back to Melfort again very soon, and will enjoy it whichever cottage we stay in.

Relaxing home from home
Wow what a great place, on checking in (hassle free) we opened the door and from kitchen to bedroom everywhere was clean. We had just come from London staying in a 5 star hotel and I can say Melfort village was cleaner. It also felt that they wanted dogs there with a dog box from bowls to biscuits and TOY great magic touch. The dog field is amazing been able to let a beagle off in a secure field is a bonus to us. They are lovely walks and only 20 minutes away from Oban its in a great location too. The games room was good for the kids and will return as soon as we can.

Melfort Village still fails to disappoint
My wife and I stayed in the village (in the Walled Garden for a week followed by a cottage for the following week) back in 2002 and have tried to get back there several times. This time was successful and reminded us why we wanted to return. The doggy pamper pack is an especially nice touch and the cheap fishing in their own loch is icing on the cake. The staff are very friendly and helpful and even though we had weather which was more like what we would expect in Corfu, we had a great time (though the heat curtailed long walks with the dogs).

Melfort Village our favourite place
A wonderful week at Melfort Village. Upper Cooperage spacious & comfortable & has everything we need for a great break on the West Coast. Used Shower of Herring restaurant & bar - great gin & tonics (special wasHarris gin) & good selection of whiskies & bottled beer. Food good, well cooked & had a great take away one night. Monday Music night very enjoyable with lots of local musicians & a good variety of different music. Staff in Village always helpful - just a delightful place to stay.

Argyll-A new area of Scotland visited.
Upper cooperage provided comfortable accommodation with lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
Trips taken to various islands were very successful, all the different forms of transport and timings worked well.
Knowledge from the staff in Reception was excellent and proved to be invaluable.

An enjoyable stay
My mother booked this cottage for us to stay near to them at Melfort. We really enjoyed it - lot of space and lots for the children to do.
We would like a bigger fridge/freezer!!

Comfortable & relaxing break!
We always come here at this time of the year but decided to add a week on. We had the same apartment which we love, spacious & very comfortable. Weather as usual can be changeable on the West Coast but we enjoy relaxing with occasional days out. There are lots of great walks & the scenery is spectacular. The Shower of Herring has new owners and they are providing reasonably priced good food including takeaways which gives flexible options. The local store in the village stocks lots of local produce and there is also a good store in Ardfern about 15 mins in the car. However it is only about 30 mins drive to Oban where you have Tesco & Lidle. The staff at Melfort Village are amazing - so helpful & well informed about the local area and you can visit many fantastic places using this as your base including the islands & lots of whisky distilleries. We love it here!
