Suite Rock – Unique One-Bedroom Apartment in Juneau's Auke Bay Area

Suite Rock offers travelers an opportunity to experience Juneau from a very different perspective. This spacious second-floor one-bedroom apartment combines comfortable vacation accommodations with the custom stonework and artwork of owner Johney Engle.

Rather than a conventional rental, the property reflects Johney's long history as a stone craftsman and artist. Custom granite, rock installations, and three-dimensional artwork are incorporated throughout the property, creating a memorable setting for your Alaska visit.

The Apartment

Guests have private use of the one-bedroom apartment, including:

* King-sized bed
* Private exterior entrance
* Comfortable living room
* Sofa and additional seating
* Granite coffee table
* Full kitchen
* Bar-height kitchen seating
* ¾ bathroom with custom stone finishes
* Washer and dryer
* Off-street parking

The kitchen includes an oven/stove, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster oven, crock pot, and other useful cooking supplies.

The apartment is on the second level, so guests will need to climb one set of stairs to reach the entrance. Once inside, the apartment is all on one level.

A Property Built Around Art

Owner Johney Engle has spent decades working with natural stone and incorporating it into functional designs and artwork. His craftsmanship can be seen throughout Suite Rock, including custom granite details and three-dimensional assemblage-style pieces.

Self-portraiture by the late Skylar Engle is also displayed throughout the property, adding another artistic dimension to the guest experience.

Johney lives and works on the property and may be available to offer local recommendations. Guests can interact as much or as little as they prefer.

Location

Suite Rock is located in Juneau's Auke Bay / Back Loop area, close to:

* Tongass National Forest
* Mendenhall Glacier
* Statter Harbor
* Local trails
* Fishing areas

Statter Harbor is approximately a mile away and provides access to seasonal excursions including whale watching and kayaking.

The property is well suited for guests who plan to spend time outdoors and want a residential location closer to Auke Bay and the Mendenhall area.

Please note that Suite Rock is not located downtown. Downtown Juneau is substantially farther away, so guests looking for a walkable downtown nightlife and cruise-ship-dock experience should consider a downtown property instead.

Check-In & Stay Information

Self check-in is available through a lockbox, making later arrivals convenient.

Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM.

Early check-in and late check-out may be available for a $50 fee with advance notice, depending on availability.

Pets

Pets are welcome upon approval. Please inquire about monthly pet fees for extended stays.

Alaska Tour Discount

Kelli is a part-owner of Alaska Travel Adventures and extends a 15% discount on eligible excursions to her vacation-rental guests.

Seasonal excursions may include whale watching, salmon bakes, rafting, kayaking, canoe tours, boat tours, hiking, gold panning, Mendenhall Glacier tours, jeep tours, private transportation, and Alaska RV and cruise packages.

Tours generally operate from May through September in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Sitka. Ask Kelli for current details and eligible tours.
