Neighborhood Description
Key Largo Kampground is conveniently located .4 miles away from a shopping plaza with Publix Supermarket, walk-in clinic, public library, and numerous specialty shops and restaurants.
Key Largo is the first of the fabulous Florida Keys and is the self-proclaimed Dive Capital of the World. It is home to the world's largest artificial reef, the 510-foot USS Spiegel Grove, the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and the African Queen. Everglades National Park is just a short trip away from Key Largo. Diving, snorkeling, and glass-bottom boating in the clear waters of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary are fantastic experiences.
Watersport activities in Key Largo are plentiful, including fishing, kayaking, and swimming with the dolphins. Or, just relax with a tropical beverage and watch the beautiful sunsets in one of the many restaurants and bars in the area.
Key Largo, like many of the islands in the Florida Keys, is not known for its beaches. Its water is shallow, the result of a 221-mile-long coral reef system that extends from Miami to the Dry Tortugas National Park near Key West. However, there are several man-made beaches that skirt waters teeming with tropical fish.
Key Largo Kampground and Marina
There are 2 small quiet beaches inside the gated community where the property is located.
John PenneKamp Coral Reef State Park Pennekamp has two sandy beaches open to the public for a fee. The first is called Far Beach. This palm-lined, man-made sandy beach attracts sunbathers and beachcombers. The water is calm, warm and shallow, making it a good swimming spot, especially for children. A portable rollout mat called the Mobi-Mat is installed across the sand, providing wheelchair accessibility.
The second is Cannon Beach, located beside the fishing pier in Largo Sound. Cannon Beach, famous for its 17th century cannon mounted right on the sand, as well as remnants from a Spanish shipwreck planted in the water. Like Far Beach, Cannon Beach is man-made, but with its abundance of sealife and tropical fish, including tarpon and barracuda, the site is used frequently for snorkeling. No more than 100 feet from shore snorkelers can view the barnacle-encrusted ship’s cannons and an ancient iron anchor, among other artifacts.
Harry Harris and Founders Parks
The closest beaches to Key Largo outside of John PenneKamp Coral Reef State Park are a few miles south.
Harry Harris Park is at mile marker 93 between Key Largo and Islamorada. The park features a small sandy beach with a roped-off swimming area, children’s playground, boat ramp, picnic tables and restrooms. The Harry Harris Park beach is open to the public, and admission is free on weekdays.
Farther south, close to mile marker 87, Founders Park offers family fun with a beach, skate park, baseball fields, and an olympic pool with a shallow section. Other amenities include picnic tables and restrooms.
Anne's Beach
Anne's Beach is at mile marker 73 in Islamorada. Named for environmentalist Anne Eaton, the beach features a shallow swimming area, covered picnic tables, and a quarter-mile-long wooden boardwalk connecting two small parking lots. The areas around the parking lots can be crowded, but five covered picnic pavilions farther down the boardwalk offer a bit more seclusion. Anne’s Beach fronts the Atlantic Ocean, but because of the shallow water, there are gentle currents and few waves.

The rental was very clean and had everything we need for our short stay in Key Largo. Owner is very nice and gave lots of reccomendations.! Very nice location!
Loved the warm saltwater swimming pool and the kayaks! Everyone we encountered was super friendly. The boat launch was a short walk from the rental place and the boats came with removable wheels for transporting. Publix was right next door making shopping easy. I'd also back up the recommendation we got for fresh seafood at Eat Florida Seafood. Celeste was easy to communicate with!!!
Great place to stay in Key Largo. Key Largo is much better then Key West for the location and less people. Trailer is a trailer and expected the small size. Place was very clean and overall nice. Bed needs to be replaced as it sagged where people have slept. Other than that, everything was great. Would recommend to anyone. Host was great to communicate and deal with!
The property as mentioned by Celeste was a camper . It was very nice. Was located in a gated community centrally located in key largo.
Celeste checked on us several times. Will definitely be staying there in the future.
Overall great place to stay! The trailer was spacious, perfect for two &/or small family. The king sized bed was very comfortable. Very relaxing. The campgrounds were well kept, included a pool and small beach area. Great place to kayak, close to mangroves. Location is close many activities. Great value, highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time in Key Largo and staying at the Key Largo Kampground. The area was fantastic and the accommodations were excellent. Celeste addressed all of our questions and provided great recommendations as well. We felt very welcome and enjoyed our stay very much. The bed was very comfortable and we had plenty of space for our 4 night stay. Used the available kayaks one morning for a nice quiet paddle around the mangroves. The location is close to many great restaurants and was also handy for both a snorkel trip and going to Marathon Key for a day on the beach. Overall I would highly recommend a stay here.
Property is great. Extremely clean and organized and wverything you'll need is there. Dealing with Celeste was a pleasure, very attentive to any questions I had during booking. Had no reason to contact on e we got there as had absolutely no issues. Was a great spot for me and my wife to get away for our 20th anniversary. Would definitely go back.
The house was spotless and very comfortable. We lacked nothing. The master bed was so comfortable! I have back issues and had better sleep than in my own bed. Spotless check in and Celeste was always on top of things and always available if you needed anything. Very quiet property which we loved. Very relaxing. Thank you so much Celeste!
We have always rented a condo when vacationing in Florida. I had never thought of staying in an RV until a listing came up in my VRBO search. We have never vacationed in the Keys before and this wound up being the perfect accommodations. Our stay exceeded our expectations. Communication with Celeste was always prompt and friendly. Their RV was exceptionally clean and very cozy. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed exploring the mangroves in front of the campground in their kayaks. The few neighbors/people we met at the campground were all friendly. For our first trip to the Keys, we couldn’t have asked for more. Wonderful location. Plenty of restaurants and right next to the grocery store. We can’t wait to return. Thank you, Celeste, for sharing your home with us.
Clean, easy access to highway and grocery store. It was a 5-10 minute drive to most things in Key Largo.
The beach is a silt-bottom so there is no visibility to see anything in the water. Unfortunately, we didn't get to use the kayaks. The most awesome thing was the bed. I am lucky to sleep 6-7 hours at home. I can't stay comfortable. We slept 8-9 hours each night here and woke feeling AMAZING. The king pillows doubled as a body pillow. The split in the bedroom made it a consistent and comfortable temp all night. The coffee maker is a blessing. FYI, we found additional coffee pods in the back room. Celeste was always very responsive to all communication.
This was our first time to stay in an RV. It was clean and had everything we needed but of course it was very small and many things seemed delicate, as if they might break if we weren't very careful. Ex I was worried I would fall thru the shower floor. It was easy to find the property and it was conveniently located within walking distance of a grocery store. We did not spend any time outside because of the noseeums biting the minute we walked out the door, even with bug spray! The tiny little beach did not look inviting for swimming or kayaking, especially with the sign warning to watch out for alligators. That was disappointing, I was hoping to take advantage of the kayaks on the property and one of the reasons we chose this place. It was nice to be able to have access to a full kitchen to cook meals and it was a good experience to try out an RV. The host was very attentive and helpful. There was nothing wrong with this property, just not our cup of tea. Thanks
Our main goal in Key Largo was to snorkel at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. This rental is conveniently located a 5-minute drive away. Also nearby are great restaurants like The Fish House and Hobo's Cafe. And there is a shopping plaza right at the entrance to the Kampground with a Publix grocery store where you can get groceries, sunscreen, toiletries, etc. It's super conveniently located!
Celeste was super quick to communicate, friendly and welcoming. Her info about the property was thorough, including labels on appliances and switches inside the camper. Very helpful.
The camper has everything you need for a comfortable stay. From linens, bath, and swim towels, to hand soap, utensils, dishes, coffee pods, and cooler bags. There were even ice packs and FILLED ice trays in the freezer--and a full Brita pitcher of water. This host goes above and beyond!
The camper was immaculate. Check-in was easy. Bed and chairs were very comfy. The bathroom is small--but it is a camper bathroom, so that's to be expected. But really, this rental can't be beat. It's so centrally located, the Key Largo Kampground is clean and quiet. We didn't take advantage of the amenities besides putting kayaks in at the beach, but it does have lots of amenities (pool, laundry, marina, beaches, etc.).
Would definitely recommend this rental. Would stay again if we were in Key Largo!
The entire property is well kept and clean!
From the moment we pulled up, we were so impressed with how perfect even the outdoor seating area was. When you first open the door, you are met with a very freshly cleaned smell, that makes you feel right at home! It was only me and my husband, and this place had more than enough room for us. Ladies, if you are thinking about brining your makeup mirror, you can go ahead and leave that at the house. Celeste supplies a makeup mirror, so save that extra room in your suitcase for goodies! The shower offered enough space to bathe with comfort. To our surprise, we both showered, back to back, without running out of hot water. The kitchen had everything that needed for meals. Although we didn't do much cooking, I did snoop around to make sure we had all that would be needed in the the event that we did want to cook. I have to talk about the BED! OMG! We both slept like babies. I felt like I was in a nest! Lol! We did not end up using the kayaks, but they were located with ease. There are several spots to take them out on the campgrounds. One day, we drove down to the "beaches" at John Pennecamp. The beaches are not sandy, as we expected, but that didn't stop us from laying down some beach towels, provided by Celeste, turning on our bluetooth speaker, and catching some sun! This place was everything and more! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Was not sure what to expect as we usually stay in hotels and Airbnb’s but this place was fabulous. It’s super clean, tidy, spacious for a trailer and has everything you could need for 3 nights that we had here. Location was great for getting around the Keys, and Celeste responded super-fast when we had any question. Highly recommend!
Celeste was a very responsive host. Everything was better than advertised. Our trailer was clean, access procedures were easy, location was quiet and friendly, grocery store was close, and restaurants were nearby. This spot was perfect for the week. We will definitely rebook next time we come down to Key Largo to dive.
