"Staff were very welcoming and accommodating of my requirements.
I needed an earlier breakfast than advertised and without any hesitation Connor was able to help me."

"Absolutely delightful hotel. Me and a friend booked a room each for the Hay Festival, and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The staff were wonderful; helpful, friendly, even showed us to our rooms. The location was great, not too far away but far enough that I’d was quiet and tranquil. The breakfast is well worth the money, as is the Old Barn pub across the road, where we ate that night. A fantastic stay, I can’t wait to return with my husband next time."

"We spent a lovely night at the B and B.
Everything was perfect and they even left a G and T and beer in the fridge for us to enjoy and fresh milk in a jug.
The beds were extremely comfortable and the water piping hot.
The breakfast in the morning was lovely and our hosts could not have been more welcoming
We will return again"

"We stayed a night after spending the day at Oldfield Forge. The property was lovely and well kept with a very big room. The owner was super helpful and the breakfast the next day was great. We really recommend this property for anyone staying in the area."

"Easy parking for a few cars, The Castle Hotel is a good place to stop in the area. The staff were very helpful and the check in and out was very easy but the rooms and amenities would benefit from a bit of maintenance and a deep clean."
"The approach to the hotel is stunning—neat, tidy, and very impressive. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome from reception, with staff who were both friendly and informative.
Our room was delightful, featuring a beautiful four-poster bed complete with drapes. The furniture had an eclectic, well-loved charm that added character to the room while remaining spotlessly clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the well-appointed en-suite bathroom offered both a bath and a walk-in shower.
We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant, where the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Afterwards, we relaxed with coffee in the comfortable lounge area.
The grounds are simply gorgeous. Whichever window you look out of, you are greeted by stunning views of the surrounding green countryside. Throughout our stay, the staff were polite, attentive, and professional.
A special mention goes to Ellen, who kindly gave us a tour and shared the fascinating history of the house after breakfast in the cosy breakfast room.
Overall, we had a truly lovely stay and would not hesitate to return. Highly recommended."
"Check in was professional and informative. Room amenities very good and exceptionally clean. Restaurant staff very attenuative and a very good menu selection. Breakfast was a blast. Superb service, tasty food and fantastic staff member. very funny and really made a great start to my morning. Having paid for all of the amenities offered within the room rate the one reason why I specifically return to a hotel is the people, they are the difference that makes the difference. how they engage with you and how they treat you is not paid for, it is how they are as a person. Thank you Amanda, my day got off to a great start because of you."
"A one night stay plus breakfast. Good. No issues.
Not that it was an issue for my stay but for future reference to consider permitting dogs. Maybe allocate some rooms for o/night stay with dogs.
Wonderful countryside location. You advertise walks. Missing out on a key £ market!"
"Parking is an issue at this hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Food at the function I attended was very good considering the numbers involved. Some training of the serving staff might help. One of them knocked my drink over, said "Sorry" and that was that. Drinks were very pricey."
"Large clean room with crisp sheets on the bed. Both the bed and the pillows were too firm, resulting in limited sleep
I was convinced that continental breakfast was included when I booked the room. However the Expedia booking did not state that ,nor did the information sent to the Porters Lodge. The charge was though only £5 pp."
"This is such a special place - the accommodation is charming, comfy and convenient, the spa facilities are SPECIAL, staff are lovely and helpful and the food was great. It's a true indie place within striking distance of many great walks, and equally a fab place just to chill and unwind. Gorgeous and so well looked after."
"Hotel is in a great location - just over 15 minute walk to the train station, close to shops and the Cathedral - looks like the downstairs has been elegantly renovated. Beautiful newly-refurbished bedroom, with some really thoughtful extra touches - such as a rubber bathmat and handrail, electric fan, suitcase stand, and biscuits every day with the tea and coffee. I liked being able to open the window.
Some of the staff seemed less friendly and professional than one would expect - however, generally the staff were o.k. and two of the younger reception staff (a young man and young woman), both with dark hair, were both pleasant and helpful.
I didn't have breakfast at the hotel, as there were plenty of cafes and Bill's Kitchen (in All Saints Church) in the same street and close by."
