"We met the host at check in and he kindly showed us the trickier things around the house like the water heater, fancy thermostat, and gas stove. He let us know he was about 15 minutes away if we needed anything. That was a nice reassurance. The stairs are small and no handrail but there are non slip bars on each step for a bit of safety. "We loved the old authentic experience of the house. It had a lot of space and is located in an excellent area. On the downside, the kitchen sink is the only place to wash your hands after using the toilet which is pretty gross. Because there is only one sink to wash vegetables, do the dishes, drink water, shave, and clean your hands… the area gets pretty crowded. The beds are also substandard, just old mattresses on the ground. It would make a lot more sense to have a few rooms using Japanese...
