"This hotel in the Hancock-Houghton area is located in a quiet part of town near the Portage lift bridge. It is well kept, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the lobby/breakfast area is clean an open. It's not a new building but it is well maintained. It is located near a walking or running trail along the lakeshore, and the lakefront provides a nice view of the lift bridge. The breakfast is both hot and cold. However, other meals require driving or walking to restaurants that are less than 10 minutes away. It's a great hotel for a relaxed atmosphere on Portage Lake and quiet at night."

"We absolutely loved this cabin. We needed this getaway. And it was absolutely perfect. The view was incredible and we even had an eagle land in one of the trees about 30 ft away from us and we got to watch it fish. The cabin itself was just what we were looking for something small and cozy and the fireplace was amazing to have. We will definitely be coming back again. As We didn’t want to leave"

"Great venue for our group of 14 to eat and enjoy time together in the common area, well supplied kitchen for a large group. Our group ranged in age from 3moths to 62. Heads up there are stairs to access the unit. Loved the architecture/design that carried throughout. Kids enjoyed hanging out down at the Portage. Well situated for CC cruising or houghton/hancock. Host was great, responsive. We were here to celebrate an MTU graduation. We would be back whenever we have a large group."

"This was a very clean and well setup vacation rental. They supplied everything to make your stay comfortable: coffee, creamer, honey, eggs, toothbrushes and paste, soap, shampoo, games, bottled water, grill, fire pit with wood, and even a hair dryer. I’m positive I didn’t think of everything, but they did. They are the best hosts that I have encountered. I truly appreciate the effort they put into making my stay comfortable."

"The cabin was very homey, in a beautiful setting, and the host was very helpful and welcoming. We were impressed with the welcome basket and hand written note. Communication was excellent and the check in process was easy. The house had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. It was the perfect place to stay for our son’s graduation from Michigan Tech!"
