"We arrived to find that we were not going to get the king size bed with a partial ocean view that we had reserved. We were told that we had two double beds instead. We were told for $100 more a night we could have a king. But we did not know that there would also be $158 a night for changing the room and additional taxes. That added up to an additional $170 per night.Our bill was almost twice what had been indicated when we made the reservation. No one could explain to me the purpose of a reservation, if you were told it was available and you arrive and it was not. We had called the night before to verify the reservation and were told that the reservation was there and yes, we were getting a king size bed.Then at the desk when we arrived, they said that the type of beds could not be guaranteed. That really needs to be stated on the reservation. Other than that, it was a very nice stay. Breakfast was nice. Housekeeping did a fine job. The concierge was excellent."

"It was a lovely stay. Lights went out at about midnight didn’t come back on for couple of hours had to wait for the hot water to get hot again to take a shower. We were compensated for our troubles which was very nice of the establishment. but staff worked well to get everything under control. No microwave in hotel not sure why. "

"They were painting the floors and our room smelled like paint thinner the first 2 days. I reported it to the front desk. They said they were going to do something but honestly, I don’t think they did. The fire alarm went off one day we went to the lobby. They didn’t really have any information nor did they tell us when everything was clear that it was OK to go back to the rooms. Beneath our balcony was a weed truck dispensary and a homeless man sleeping on the street. Needless to say it smelled like marijuana on the balcony. If I were to ever stay there again I would have to have an incentive."

VALET staff needs to be more proactive not judging customers for their TIPS AND BE MORE COURTEOUS their are the first impression of the hotel Buffet staff early morning GREAT SERVICE are suiet cleaning staff GREAT SERVICE Best"

"As owner of a small well regarded Hotel on the Big Island I was looking forward to weekend away and having stayed at Queen Kapiolani literally dozens of times since the 1990s I chose that on Hotels.com that I use exclusively across the worlds without a single fail prior to this. Soon after the reservation was confirmed WITH INSURANCE there was a dire weather forecast for Oahu and so I called the Hotel the nite before to move my 4 nite stay forward.....Oh no they could not do that, no my stay history was lost in a hack (yeah likely) and in any case despite my Creds it was not possible....I asked Hotels"
