Location & activities 🌲⛷️
Tunturituuli is in one of Ruka’s nicest areas: peaceful forest all around, yet only about 0.5 miles (800 m) easy walk to the East Ruka (Ruka Valley) lifts and services. A groomed cross-country ski trail starts right from the yard, so you can clip into your skis at the door.
Kuusamo town is about 16 miles (26 km) away, Ruka Village (West Ruka) about 3 miles (5 km), and Vuosselijärvi roughly 0.1 miles (150 m) from the cabin. Oulanka National Park, Pieni Karhunkierros and Riisitunturi are all easy day trips by car, so you can mix skiing, hiking and sightseeing in the same holiday.
In winter you’ll ski, snowboard, snowshoe and snowmobile straight from the area. In summer and autumn the same routes turn into great trails for hiking, trail running, mountain biking and berry picking.
⸻
Spaces & beds 🛏️
The cabin offers about 1,160 ft² (108 m²) of space over two floors, including a full-height loft. Downstairs you’ll find a high-ceiling living room, open kitchen and dining area, one bedroom and a bathroom with sauna. Upstairs there are two more bedrooms and an open lounge.
In total there are three bedrooms plus the upstairs lounge with extra beds, comfortably sleeping up to 9 guests. Beds are standard European doubles and singles, roughly similar to UK double/queen and single sizes. The layout works well for two families, a group of friends or a mix of adults and teens who want their own corners.
A utility room with washing machine and two drying cabinets, two toilets (one upstairs with an extra shower), a spacious entrance hall and two terraces make longer stays easy – especially with lots of outdoor and ski gear.
⸻
Sauna & cozy evenings 🔥🧖♀️
After a day on the slopes or trails, the private electric sauna with two showers and underfloor heating is the perfect place to warm up. You can step straight out to the sheltered back terrace to cool off in the fresh Lapland air.
The living room has a heat-storing fireplace and a large, comfy sofa – ideal for board games, a glass of wine or a movie night. One starter basket of firewood is included in your stay, and extra firewood can be ordered if needed.
The front terrace is lovely for a morning coffee, while the quieter backyard faces the forest. On clear nights you might even spot the northern lights dancing above the trees.
⸻
For families & remote work 🧑🧑🧒🧒💻
Tunturituuli is very family-friendly. Your stay includes a complimentary travel cot, high chair, potty and child safety gate, so even the smallest travellers are well taken care of. If you’re arriving with more little ones, an extra travel cot and/or high chair can be arranged for a small additional fee.
Reliable Wi-Fi and a proper dining table make it easy to combine remote work with days on the slopes – perfect for workations or longer stays. There’s a smart TV both in the living room and upstairs lounge, so kids and adults can relax in their own spaces.
For drivers, the covered carport with engine heater outlet and an EV charging point means you can arrive late in winter, plug in and start the next day with a warm car and a full battery.
