At first we weren’t sure because the room Was small, but once settled in we loved it, onsen is a lovely treat morning and evening after so much walking, comp coffee , free to walk around in robes and slippers provided , laundry avail , dryer wasn’t great but we stayed 3 nights so hung up clothes , nice location with easy access to everything you might need, smells great , very calming atmosphere with lots of space to lounge , open air concept was lovely to hear the rain, would definitely recommend

It’s nice. Convenient to a lot of Kyoto’s attractions. The staff (mostly not Japanese) was sometimes helpful. Sometimes not. And the room could have used a deep clean, but otherwise okay.

2nd time staying here it was perfect. I will continue to stay at candeo they are super helpful, welcoming, staff speaks English as well. My favorite thing is that this Candeo location is nearby walking distance/ train station to a lot of Kyoto attractions!

Great location, but frustrating in-room details. The location of Candeo Hotels Kyoto Karasuma Rokkaku can't be beat. It's central, walkable to a lot of Kyoto, and easy to get around from. That said, a couple of things took away from the stay. The TV volume is capped at 15 out of 100, and even at the maximum I couldn't make out half of what was being said. If you like to unwind with a show in the evening, plan on subtitles or headphones. The dryer was also a letdown. After a full 60 minutes my laundry was still damp, so it's not something to count on if you need to dry clothes during a longer trip. If the hotel addressed the TV volume limit and the dryer, this would be an easy recommendation. For now, it's a good base for exploring the city, but expect some small annoyances in the room.

The hot bath was great and hotel provided all the essentials for your bath. There are very few laundry machines if you want to do it yourself but the hotel offers laundry service which will takes 2 days.

The property was beautiful, with historical shared lobby and public bathing pools operating 3pm-11am. The breakfast was excellent, my dad said the Japanese breakfast was his favorite meal in Japan. Even the apple juice and soup were delicious and delicate. There's nothing I could complain about this property. It's not the most central location near the train station nor the historical Kyoto area, but it's still just 2-5 stops ride away from most touristy spots we needed to get to. I think it was worth it considering the cost effectiveness because I've stayed at similar properties in Gion and it was almost triple the cost.

Fantastic hotel. It felt almost like a fusion between ryokan and hotel. The rooms were modern with regular western beds and bathrooms but everything else felt more like a ryokan. Great location close to everything.
