Good news is the Alp'Hotel is only 30m from the bus stop, 150m from the Cret de Merle chairlift, 125m from underground parking @ 15+ euros a night, 200m from 2 supermarkets, 150m from town square and several restaurants/bakeries within 100m. Triple room was a good size, big enough for cot with full length balcony. Bed was supple rather than hard. Bathroom with his and hers basins and separate wc. Staff gave excellent service. The great location and decent room size come at a high price. Breakfast was 14 euros extra. Recommend a trip on #2 bus to the lake and Teleski area at Confins Chapelle and expert skiers will also head for Telecabin de Balme on #2 bus or ski indirect via the Cret de Merle. For absolute beginners there is a fabulous area on the Beauregard plateau 1690m which means beginners do not need to ski on wet/icy snow. There are 2 button lifts, 1 for total beginners, the other for 1-3 days experience. The village is amazingly beautiful and for an expert skier Aiguille, Fernuy and Balme will be very satisfying. Balme is hidden behind a sheer vertical rock face and is north facing so other than the very top it gets no sun during the entire day which means snow stays perfect top to bottom all day in January. Will definitely return to La Clusaz but if you are willing to walk an extra 100m you can reduce hotel costs by a third. 1hr transfer from Geneva airport by Allo Taxi (ask hotel) was 125 euros midweek and 165 on Sun.
