Perfect spot
This was the perfect spot and everything we hoped for. So much room to spread out for a family of 4 and conveniently located near everything we wanted to see. Everyone there was so helpful and informative. Can't think of a better way to experience the La Fortuna area! We loved it. Thanks for the stay!

Absolutely enchanting
Great hosts, beautiful property, just a wonderful experience throughout our stay. No bug problems, even though I'm sure in the tropical cloud forest they are present. The property is about a mile from La Fortuna proper. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and outdoor areas. Be sure to keep a lookout for wildlife, we saw sloths, iguanas, toucans, and scarlet macaws. I hope to visit Casa Colibrí again.

Beautiful property
We loved our stay at Casa Colibri. The house was clean and had everything we needed for cooking our own meals. It was close enough to all of the adventures we went on yet far enough away from town that we had a true feel for the rural vibe. Louis showed us the resident sloth! We would definitely stay here again.

A quick week in Casa Colibri
This is a lovely house and is so much better than the description and photos on the VRBO site. The entire house has been updated with new luxurious bathrooms and a new kitchen. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful property - off the beaten path but close to everything
The house was very modern and clean with a lovely infinity pool and gorgeous huge bathrooms. Nice to have Alexa at our disposal for lights etc. Very comfortable beds and lots of privacy.

Exceeded My Expectations
Casa Colibrí exceeded my expectations. The house and property was much prettier than the pictures. The house suited are family of six. We saw toucans and macaws every day. The grounds keeper showed us a sloth on the property that totally made my girls trip. The house was gorgeous and looks brand new. The location is great because you're only a mile away from an awesome and clean super market (El Abuelo). We would definitely stay here again. I thought the pricing per person was an odd thing to have on a rental since I never came across this in my many rentals in the past. My parents decided to join us last minute which we had to increase our party size from 4 to 6, therefore had to pay extra for them. Regardless we would stay here again! Pura Vida!!!

Beautiful and clean!
Beautiful home with great views. Home was very clean and well kept. My family and I were able to see a sloth on the property. Home is very close to many attractions around the La Fortuna area, so it makes for a easy commute! Arnaldo and his family are some of the best host we ever had. We will definitely be back, Pura Vida!

Beautiful property, plenty of room
Lots of bedrooms & bathrooms for 6 adults (3 couples) & 2 teenagers to stay. Pool & outdoor dining area were beautiful, we spent most of our time outside when we were there. Easy drive into La Fortuna for activities & dining. Lots of parrots in the nearby trees & even a sloth for a few days! Main negatives were the daily visits by random dogs in the area. One of our party members is afraid of dogs & was constantly on alert for them & had to go inside multiple times a day when they would wander over. A/C unit did not work in one of the bedrooms, alerted property owner but as it was over Christmas holidays, not much could be done. Would stay again!

Great Family Stay
We had a lovely time at Casa Colibri in Arenal! We were 5 adults (parents and 3 adult children) traveling for the holiday. There was plenty of space for us to relax and have privacy. We really appreciate that Arnaldo the host was easy to contact and provided us with a welcome packet via email, so we weren’t bugging him with questions. The location was a little further from La Fortuna than we’d thought, but it was lovely. We felt very safe and had easy access to markets and restaurants. Looks like the kitchen had recently been improved by quite a bit and a few appliances had not been fully hooked up. We would’ve loved to have a clothes line or somewhere to hang wet swim clothes but we’re able to make do. Pool and outdoor area were great! Arenal is a must visit. Would absolutely stay at Casa Colibri again!

Lovely Visit!
This was the perfect beginning to our trip! The house fit all our needs for our family of 5. My boys loved the amazing pool and we even got to see some sloths on the property. We enjoyed a couple of waterfalls nearby, bakeries and restaurants in town, and one of the many hot spring resorts in the area. There is so much to do in La Fortuna, we could have stayed another week!

Great property - few minor issues
This is a wonderful property. It’s clean, well-maintained, modern, spacious, comfortable, and has an amazing, private pool. probably the best VRBO property we’ve ever stayed at. There are minor issues. This is not to discourage anyone from staying here, but to alert the property owner: - Kitchen cooktop is entirely digital, and difficult to operate. (It’s also partially broken, as evidenced by the error message). There is a video offered by the owner on how to turn on the cooktop, but it’s doesn’t go far enough. Operation of it is counter-intuitive. - Other kitchen equipment was lacking. All pots and pans were stainless steel, which is hard to use and harder to clean. There was one nin-stick pan that was too worn out to be used. No small spoons, only large ones. - Washer/dryer is exceedingly loud. Something is clearly amiss with the washing machine. - Bathroom door lock is broken. At first it didn’t work at all. The owner came by to fix it, but that actually made it worse. Now it’s east to get locked inside. The handle needs to be replaced. - Glass wall and doors to shower do not prevent water from escaping out if you accidentally aim the shower head at the glass. - Stray dogs wander on to the premises at night (This is a positive thing for people who love dogs) - There is a rooster in the compound who crows very early in the morning, like at 2 or 3 AM. He’s loud, and persistent. Wear earplugs to sleep. I would still stay here again.

There are so many things that went wrong and understand some things were not in their control. 1) due to storm power went out and we slept with no ac and it was very humid - we didn't get any sleep that night 2) bugs everywhere- they mentioned there might be a few but they were in our beds, got in our luggage in the kitchen it was horrible 3) Netflix issue - it was 50/50 chance the tv worked it wasn't the best 4) pool lights - would go on and off while we tried to night swim - we ended up not using the pool very much 5) stray dogs - we were running from our house from the taxis because the stray dogs would run up on us - this also effected our pool stay 6) room lights - would flicker when using 7) bathroom doors didn't lock

We are sorry for your inconvenience, we have never had a comment like that. but I must start by saying that I reviewed each of the problems that were mentioned and everything works fine, we tested the lights in the rooms, the pool and we don't know what happened since they work Perfect, with the Television we decided to change it for a new one, with the electricity we must say that there was a strong storm and very strong winds, the electricity was suspended by the company that provides the service for a period of 2 hours but that is something that we cannot control, but our houses have lights emergency to have visibility, with the insects in our guide and house manual it says that there are insects that should close the doors and windows to prevent them from entering the house, stray dogs in Costa Rica do not exist (I don't know if there will be any part of the world) it is possible that it was our dog that escaped at some point and he likes to say hello since he always finds good people who like to greet him, but we will be more careful that he does not escape. but we are still very sorry for the inconvenience of it and we will work to correct it and try to give our guests the best possible stay in our homes.

Fantastic home near La Fortuna
The property was beautiful. The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable. There was lots of hot water, lots of towels, and the pool was lovely. I highly recommend this home. It is close to La Fortuna and many of the popular activities. We especially enjoyed the tour of the finca Don Jorge.

Loved the house. It was bigger than we needed for family of 4, could have accommodated 8 easily. Secure location with gated entry. Saw sloth in trees and numerous bird species. Kids loved the good-sized pool with waterfall. Property manager promptly answered any questions we had. Only minus - located about 15 minutes from central La Fortuna, although not much of an inconvenience. Great family property.

Great base in La Fortuna-Arenal area
Clean, well-equipped house 15 minutes south of La Fortuna. The veranda was spacious and the pool spotless. The kitchen was good for breakfasts and simple dinners. The beds were comfortable with ample storage. There was a generous supply of bath and pool towels. This was one of the cleanest VRBOs I've ever rented; BUT there are lots of bugs in Costa Rica and you need to clean every cup and counter asap to keep the gnats at bay. The AC was great. Having a washer-dryer was fantastic, but it was a surprisingly noisy (so no loads after bedtime). The house is one of three rental houses on a private, gated drive. The photos don't show the newer houses - but you can't help but see them when you sit by the pool, and they can't help but see you as they come and go. The other houses on the court that face towards the woods (Casa Esmerelda looks awesome this way) - but Casa Colibri parallels the driveway so has limited privacy. The views beyond the neighbors are an orchard, forest with bird life, and very distant mountains. The volcano is not visible from the house (but can be seen if you walk a bit uphill towards the entrance gate). We saw toucans every afternoon, and one morning there was a sloth that the workman showed my family. The property manager was quick to respond to any questions, and when asked, sent the gate and door codes the day before we arrived.

My husband & I just spent 2 weeks at this beautiful property. The house, gardens & pool were all immaculate. The area is very quiet but only an easy 15 minute drive from La Fortuna where there are lots of excellent restaurants & supermarkets. There is lots to do within a 45 minute drive from the house. It was great to go exploring the local area & then come back & cool off in the pool & finish the day off with a BBQ. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & will definitely stay at this property again.

4 of us came on a work trip and decided to spend a couple days ziplining and rafting before getting to work. This house was ideally located for our visits to both activities and we really enjoyed the layout of the house and the pool. My only wish was that we could have spent the entire week here rather than only a night or two. Arnaldo was incredibly helpful when I had user error with the lock and he provides a fantastic house manual. When my family returns to Costa Rica for a vacation I plan on staying here.

It is a beautiful home with trees along the outskirts. The pool was so refreshing and lovely to sit in while listening to the sounds of the rainforest around us. Easy drive to the town. Family adventure
This property is even better than it looks online. The pool and property are amazing and so well cared for. The pool was cleaned everyday. The house is set up really well, and is actually more modern than the images give it credit for. It is a nice distance out of town and really easy to access with a car. Beds are comfortable and clean. Arnaldo is really attentive and really responsive via whats app. He fixed our broken a/c really quickly which was appreciated. Lots of reviews complain about the bugs, but as long as you clean the kitchen and outdoor table really well after meals, and do not leave food out even on the counters, they are not a big problem. We started to have fun with the bigger bugs who liked to join us for outdoor meals. They were not bad enough to keep us from eating outside! We would love to stay here again sometime down the road.

Great Vacation Rental
My family of 5 enjoyed our stay at Casa Colibri. The house was much bigger than we expected. Kitchen was well stocked to prepare your own meals and the outdoor grill was in excellent condition. The property is well maintained, especially the pool. We saw it get cleaned every day. It is a short drive to La Fortuna on a paved road. It can get loud early in the morning with nearby roosters, so I recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper. We would definately rent this house again.

Fabulous - Felt like Home
Fabulous - Felt like Home, actually better than home. We could have just moved in and stayed forever. We LOVED this home, the location, and the property. The views! The home is spacious and the bedrooms have air conditioning. Everything was clean and lovely. We enjoyed the pool at the end of the day. They made it so easy to be here with clear instructions on how to get here, how to get in and use the property. They are more high tech than we are at home. Spacious casa for two couples
The casa is well located just a short drive from la Fortuna and all amenities. The private pool is a welcome cooling dip after a humid hike. The kitchen is well equipped and met our needs for basic meals. We did have a hiccup with one air conditioner unit leaking water into one of the bedrooms. We informed the owner and used a different room. Nearby construction of a house wasn' t too bothersome as our schedule was away from the casa mostbof the day. Would stay again and fully recommend.

La Fortuna incredible stay.
My mother and I had the luxury of staying at this property while staying in La Fortuna. We enjoyed every morning by the pool with the sounds of surrounding birds and wildlife. The pool was beautiful and clean as well as the rest of the home. We felt very safe and secure in this location and the drive to surrounding attractions in La Fortuna, was very close and convenient. We can not wait to come back!

Nice house, but little privacy due to construction next door
Upsides: It is a new/nice house and a nice property. Pretty good location. The groundskeeper is nice and showed us a sloth on a tree nearby. Downsides: Pool is fine, but small. When we arrived the house was still being cleaned despite it being after the check in time (it would have been nice to have received a text or something to that effect. The chairs to the outside table are too small for the table (unless you're over 7 feet tall). The toilet was broken and was running most of the time. There was ongoing construction of a house next door, (owned by the same person I believe) which meant that we had no privacy at all and workmen outside while we were in the pool and on the deck. If this had been in the pictures/description we would not have booked it. We requested a partial refund to compensate for the above but haven't received anything.

We absolutely loved every second of this stay. Arnaldo helped us book the best tours. Don’t miss the La Fortuna Night Tour with Jorge just four minutes from the VRBO. Hands down our favorite tour with the most amazing passionate guide. The house was very clean, the pool was cleaned every day and awesome, the kitchen was great, we could watch sloths from the porch. We spent so much time outside on the gorgeous porch. There was construction but it was so quiet that even when our back we didn’t hear it. The rooster was crazy but most of the area had chickens and farm land. It didn’t bother us too much. The house keeper and pool guy were so nice. The pool guy even went out of his way to show us and walk us to a sloth that was about five feet from the ground. We would definitely stay here again! And we can not wait to come back.

A Perfect Stay
We couldn't have been happier with our experience. The home was everything we expected. The interior was very clean, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The outdoor area was equally amazing, with a beautiful pool and plenty of seating for lounging and enjoying the scenery. We loved spending our days exploring the surrounding areas and then coming back to the house to relax by the pool (even though we didn't have the best weather for it). Arnaldo was incredibly helpful and responsive, and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We especially appreciated the assistance in finding some supplies to make some small repairs to our rental vehicle. l Overall, we highly recommend this home in La Fortuna for anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing vacation in Costa Rica. We will definitely be back!

Very roomy and clean 4 BR house with private pool is great for families. Excellent communication with Arnaldo on Whatsap. Comfortable furniture, great covered patio with lots of seating options. The owner is building another house down the hill a bit, so there were construction sounds. Excellent AC in bedrooms. Terrific value in its price range. And very nice to be staying outside of La Fortuna!

Great house and property for a family/group
Our experience staying here for a couple nights was seamless. Decor, bedding and fixtures were very nice. The only things I will note is that the stove was a little tricky to operate (the video instructions helped) and a nearby rooster made it’s presence known and might bother light sleepers. The location is secure and quiet, outside of the noise of the town and a short drive to Arenal park, hot springs resorts and attractions.

Our family stayed at this home and loved it! It was clean, the air conditioning in the bedrooms was great, and the home was in pretty good condition. We loved the pool and covered patio. The location is good, though it’s a bit outside of La Fortuna. The home is inside a gated neighborhood which felt secure. There is some home construction going on just past the backyard, but we were always awake before they started so it wasn’t an issue. Arnaldo is an excellent host. Great communication, provided helpful information ahead of our stay, and was very responsive. We definitely recommend this home if you’re looking for a place to stay near La Fortuna.

We stayed with 2 families travelling together, kids ages 4, 7 and 8. The house was perfect size. The hosts were really helpful and responsive. This was the perfect location for a relaxing family vacation. The pool was cleaned daily and the house was super clean. Would definitely stay again!

Nous sommes restés 2 familles. Il y avait beaucoup de places pour nous tous. La maison était très propre et bien entretenue. Les lits étaient confortables. La vue extérieur était superbe. Les propriétaires étaient sympathiques et la communication était simple. Les deux seuls petits points plus négatifs mais c’est vraiment minimes serait la présence de fourmis dans la cuisine. Donc, nous devions mettre tout dans le frigo. L’autre petit point négatif est que la maison était à 15 minutes de route de La Fortuna. Nous pensions que c’était plus proche. Sinon, nous donnons tout de même un 5/5.

Beautiful property. We’ll equipped kitchen. Terrace was awesome to hang out on in the evening. Arnaldo was very responsive and communication was easy. It’s about 10km outside of La Fortuna. Easy drive to and from, but convenience store was nearby off essentials were needed. There is also a few roosters to make sure you get up and out of the house to enjoy the many adventures the area offers. Great place. Would stay here again.

First Costa Rica Visit
We had a wonderful stay in La Fortuna at Casa Colibri. The home was perfect and the pool and landscaped surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. Arnaldo was a great communicator and very helpful. We had so much fun in La Fortuna! We went white water rafting, zip lining, El Salto, and Arsenol. The food was incredible and the people were so friendly and engaging. We can't wait to go back.

La Fortuna house
We stayed in La Fortuna for 3 days with our 2 teenage boys. The house was perfect for us and there were so many things to do in the Arenal area. Arnaldo was very tentative and was our personal concierge during our stay! He arranged many of our activities and made everything during our visit easy. He is a gem and went above and beyond for us. The house is not right in La Fortuna but is only a short drive to town and very easy to get to.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in La Fortuna at Casa Colibri ! The house was very spacious, the outdoor patio was beautiful and the pool was simply amazing! Arnoldo was wonderful to work with and was very helpful with arranging trips etc. We would highly recommend this home for your next vacation!

Communication with the owner appears to only be done through VRBO and was a bit of an issue for me as my internet wasn't working well around lake arenal en route to the home, so I had to wait for responses from the owner when figuring out the check in process. The place is nice and modern and a close location to fortuna and springs. Plenty of room and beds for guests. Nice pool with waterfall and the Alexa controls was a nice touch. Washer and dryer a plus. The grounds were very clean. There was a specialty coffee included that was a nice touch.A few things needed fixing though ,the ceiling fan over the dining room table did not work, also in the kitchen the ceiling fan only stayed on a low speed as well as there being no kitchen stovetop hood for ventilation, so it gets pretty hot in the kitchen when cooking . Ac units worked and were in each room ,except there isn't any AC in the main spaces(kitchen,dining room and family room, and the two fans to move air out there, one doesn't work,other only moves very slowly). The keypad to enter took a few minutes to figure out and the plastic screen was broken off and attached with two little bandaids, I had to reattach it a few times during my stay there. It is the jungle ,but there were a few dead bugs along the wall in the kitchen when I entered the home. The stovetop had no directions and took a good 15 minutes for me to figure it out.(directions left by stovetop would alleviate that issue) As well as directions to use the tv/ cable . The bathrooms had no ventilation fans so you had to open the small window when using . The refrigerator had no door shelves at all seemed to have been removed so not much space.2different small dogs that visited that were cute , but when I arrived there was dog hair and a little dog poop on the back patio. Wasn't a big issue for me ,but for some that are allergic to dogs this could be an issue. There were two hammocks on th back patio, but the one directly in front of the pool had a big tear in it and was not usable. One of the bathrooms had a big area of tile that was bulging out and exposed cracks . Lastly the gardener showed up in the late morning to work around the house , again the grounds were nice ,but it would have been nice if they did that while you weren't trying to relax but the pool in privacy ,like another time later. All in all though these small things needing fixed aren't enough to stop me from staying there again , and I would rebook for the future
