No hot water in the bathroom no hot water at all Different tile inside the bathroom and pipe sticking out no presión on the shower we rent more the just one room there and they all have problems liquids roof ettc

Nice hotel, close to town and the National Park.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The rooms were adequate but but exceptional. The hotel was close to town, and we took advantage of the various restaurants and shops. The best experience was the viist to the near-by butterfly center.

Small room with not comfortable bed. Only cold water in the bathroom. We liked the breakfast and hot coffee in the morning. Small swimming pool was okay and we like all the flowers outside.

Hotel was a cheap price and that's what we got . Hot water was iintermitant a lot of Hwy noise in the rooms . Staff was friendly spoke decant English breakfast was ok

Friendly staff, hotel location is okay though is in front of the main street so you get to hear the cars passing by, breakfast is ok.

Bad cancellation policy
Beware: There's another "El Jardin Hotel" in the Monte Verde area (a beautiful place with very nice owners). My rental car agency, "Economy" punched the wrong hotel in our GPS so we didn't make it to La Fortuna and wound up at the same name hotel in the Monte Verde area. I gave the Arenal Jardin Hotel 24 hour notice of what happened and they were unsympathetic. Not even a partial refund. They rebooked the room.

This hotel is a little far from town. If you don't mind getting a taxi each time you go and leave town, it's fine. The bed was not very comfortable. The air conditioning made a clicking noise the entire time it was on. It was very pretty and breakfast was very nice. Other than location the other issues are fixable.

Great location great staff
Location was great manager helped us decide on what activities to do. When we wanted to add an extra day there was no room she booked us into another place and had some one drive us there

Room was clean, no-frills. No glasses or ice. Breakfast was tasty. From our room, there was highway noise. From the beach where we live, dry and hot, to the mountains where it rained every day and was much cooler, it was a nice break.

We drove around looking for this hotel only to find out they had over booked and had no rooms after it was already paid for. still have not been refunded the money! worst part about it was it looked far from full!

Motel on the main road but far away from anything
This is a really basic motel. You get a bed, bathroom, safe, TV and that's about it. The only plug socket we had was in the bathroom above the sink! We were in room 2, which is by the main road. The walls are really thin, so if your unlucky and get rooms 1, 2 or 3 you will be woken up to the sound of heavy goods vehicles at around 5.30am (even with earplugs). We asked If there were any other rooms available and the answer was 'no'. As in, that was the single word response we got. We had a look online though and rooms were available. When we asked about things to do in the area, all we could get was 'I don't know, but these tours we offer are really good...'. The other thing about this motel is that it's really far from anything, so you really need a car to stay here. The town will cost about $5 in taxi, and the national park is $25! Both one way!

Hotel was nice. Albeit the mattress bedding was a bit hard. There was also a few bugs every now and then. Location, very noisy from all the traffic going down in the road. It made it a bit difficult to sleep sometimes. Hotel was close to downtown La Fortuna with taxi about 2500 colones. Nice scenery outside with good view of the volcano. Customer service was excellent. Tasty breakfast provided every morning. They would also help you on booking tours during your stay. Good place to stay overall if you don't mind those tiny details.

Nice relaxing stay
Great stay away from town. Not a luxury place, but great for our family. Service is wonderful and breakfast was delicious. Very relaxing.

Staff were very helpful after we had car accident in Arenal. Also in locating local activities. Rooms were large, can sleep 3 in each room. B'fast good.

Can't say enough about the manager, Eric. Great guy. Most obliging and helpful. Hotel is basic, but very charming and clean. Nice breakfast. Nice grounds and view. Out of bustle of town. View of Arenal might have been wonderful, but fogged ot for us.

Nice little place with amazing service
For such a low price, the hotel is extremely well maintained. It is a 10 minute drive from La Fortuna on the highway and you can see Arenal volcano from the backyard if the sky is clear. The room itself is small and the bed is a little hard. But the room is really well maintained and clean. The best part is the service. The lady who maintains this place (sorry, forgot her name) was very sweet to both of us and even cooked a custom breakfast which was delicious. This place had the best Gallo Pinto we had in Costa Rica. Thanks for the great experience.

The room was dirty, it smelled and when I woke up the next morning I had bed bugs bites all around my body ! Stay Away!!!!!

Honeymoon stay
we stayed at this hotel during on of our stops in Costa Rica for our honeymoon. They owner was very nice. We felt safe and the room was very private. We went during off season so even for breakfast it was just us. The food was good. The room was a bit too warm for us and didn't have a fan. The door did let in a couple ants but we were in Costa Rica so bugs should be normal. We had a rental car so we were able to drive to all the places we wanted. Close but still private. great price for our few nights we were there. Served its purpose!

Great staff, tasty breakfast, and a beautiful view of the volcano! The only drawback was that only cold water came out of the shower on the last two days... But, I will definitely stay again if I have a chance to return to La Fortuna.

I was so disapointed when we arrived at this hotel the host were not very friendly and hardly spoke english .. they told us that the wifi work only at the reception and not in the rooms ok not that bad .. when i enter the room i was freaking out it was not clean bugs all over my bed and the bathrooms smelled really bad.. no pool no tv no nothing .. breakfast was good . Its not so far from downtown la fortuna but on a very occupied route we were waked up by trucks every morning ... i dot not recommand.

Despite the hotel being slightly remote from town which was a plus, it is on a major road that is noisy until late evening and again early morning. The staff is very obliging.

This hotel is a very rustic and quiet hotel. The owner is extremely nice and helpful and is a fantastic cook. Needless to say the included breakfast was very appetizing and provided substantial energy throughout the day.

My girlfriend and I were travelling by motorcycle for 9 days in Costa Rica. I reserved all the rooms through Hotels.com and had to go by the descriptions here. I thought i would add my own impression of each place. This hotel was a great value because the rooms are very nice, the food was great, service was outstanding, and the grounds are nice. It is a small place maybe only 10 rooms. probably two miles out of town, but not exactly where Google maps shows it (drive a little further, you'll find it). With so much to do around there, its a great place to relax at the end of the day!

Plusses to this hotel: really good breakfast, nice view, very friendly hosts, could arrange tours, not crowded at all, quiet. Minuses: it was further from town than I'd expected and there were no restaurants nearby. Also, we had to switch rooms twice due to the air conditioning units.

Do not book this hotel. it is terrible
very noise by the road, insects in the room, dog get in and out the room, no hot water. we book three nights but have to leave after first night. the owner said to return the money for the two nights unused but never did.

Beautiful Hotel with lovely view!
I can't say enough good things about this place or the young couple that runs it. It is a most beautiful, serene place. Each room is large and separate with large windows and very airy. The bathrooms are extremely large. The couple keeps the rooms very clean. The breakfast they serve is amazing! Though the young woman does not speak much English, she is extremely helpful and it's not hard to communicate amongst us. We were easily able to make our wants and needs known. They were able to tell us the best places to visit, activities to do, and where to go for needed supplies. It's just enough outside the town to get away from "activities" but close enough so we're not distant from things to do. We felt like family staying there. we LOVED the place and the people with whom care for it. We would so love to come back and stay there again and highly recommended it to others with whom we met on our travels!

do not book this hotel
We booked three nights at Hotel Jardines Arenal, but had a terrible experience first night. The room had a good view of the mountain. However, there was no hot water and too many little bugs. The sheet and towels are old. the water may not be good because my daughter had some and got very bad stomachs pain. the traffic from the street are very loud and we hardly had any sleep. so we have to leave, do not know if we can get part or all the money back for the two nights we did not stay.We had a wonderful trip in Costa Rica, and this is the only bad experience we had in the trip.

The Hotel Jardines Arenal is a quaint and rustic spot. The "Tipico" breakfast was tasty, and the young couple who ran the place was sweet. They spoke no English, so getting info was a bit hard for me, but overall, the spot was very good for seeing the volcano region.

Peaceful setting
Spacious and airy room. The lady who runs the place is very kind and helpful. She is very attentive to your needs. The place is kept clean. I really enjoyed the airy feeling. There is a butterfly garden with in walking distance. It is close enough to town, five min drive. The lady sets up any outing you are interested in and they pick you up and drop you off. Really felt good about this hotel.

Beauty and quiet in La Fortuna
Since this hotel is out of town it was easy to find country walking areas. We were within walking distance of an excellent Eco Center and we could take tours where the tour company picked us up and brought us back to the hotel. A good breakfast came with the price of hotel and it was possible to order meals to be delivered for other meal times. We were extremely happy with our stay.

We had booked on hotels.com however the hotel did not get this information. And this wasn't the first time this has happened. They were great about it though and there were no problems. Great hospitality. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms were simple. Hot water but pressure not great if others using their showers. Clean. Next to a road, but all houses and hotels are. Didn't wake me up. Great place! I would stay there again.

Walking distance to Nature Park Danaus.
Loved the breakfast and the family that run the hotel. They were very helpful. The local bus stop is very close. Only negative is that it is close to the road so can be noisy.

I am surprised to see that this only gets average ratings. For the price, I couldn't believe how awesome this place is. We got a typical costa rican breakfast that tasted great (one of the best breakfasts I had during my 10 day stay). The host is INCREDIBLY nice to EVERYONE. I wish I remembered his name, but he told us of all the places to go, and we even found a cool free thermal river that wasn't in the guide book because of him. Our hotel was cleaned every day, and the room was spacious. I was even curious about the fruit tree outside which I later learned was a water apple, and he let me try it. Out of all the places I stayed at, I felt that this hotel truly cared about their guests, were genuinely nice, and the room was large with all the amenities you would need. The price can't be beat. Some people may say the location is a bit out of the way (we did get a bit lost trying to find it, but I was able to ask someone where it was and they guided me right away). If you have a car, I would strongly suggest staying here. There is ample parking, you get a great view of the volcano too!

Best smiles in Costa Rica
The room was very clean and roomy. The shower had hot water and after a week with no hot water it was wonderful. The bed was not very comfortable and it was close to a busy road but the young couple who run the place more then made up for it. There smiles were contagious and they gave us information on where the locals go. Also, she cooked us a wonderful breakfast with fresh squeezed juice in the mornings. The price was great and everything else was a bonus.
