Step into the extraordinary at Camp Karibu, one of the few remaining historic cottages of the former Lake Placid Club, reinvented as a 6,000 sq ft luxury retreat with panoramic mountain views. Nestled on the 45-hole golf course, this four-level Adirondack lodge is just a 2-minute walk to Mirror Lake and 5-minutes on foot from the vibrant shops and restaurants of Lake Placid village.
Inside you’ll discover a chef’s dream kitchen — with a six-burner gas range, espresso & coffee station within the butler’s pantry and fully stocked with spices, cookware, all the essentials and beyond. Or grill on our deck while taking in full mountain views. Enjoy meals in the formal dining room, or better yet, on our screened, rustic dining porch.
Camp Karibu offers two elegant living areas, an oversized game room (ping-pong, foosball, board games, cornhole, badminton) and a seasonal enclosed sleeping porch that feels like being in a tree house. Newly installed A/C on the main level & in primary bedroom suite, and a large gas fireplace in the living room.
Five bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths span four floors. Bedroom on the lower level offers driveway access, easier access for guests with mobility challenges. Lodge includes two king suites, one king bedroom & queen bedroom that share a connecting full bath and one bedroom with two twin beds (see layout in pictures). All bedrooms include high-end linens, additional blankets and a variety of pillows to choose from. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and other necessities are provided, with extras in the linen closet.
Designed for year-round adventure, Camp Karibu comes with sleds and lake floats, a fire-pit overlooking the golf course, radiant floor heat throughout, smart TVs & high-speed WiFi. Camp Karibu is proudly family-friendly, and bring your dog, they’re welcome too.

Perfect in every way! Well-appointed, extremely clean, 5-minute walk to the lake and 10-min walk to town. The porch, the deck, the firepit, and two large family rooms provide all the gathering space necessary to accommodate guests of all ages. The kitchen is a chef's dream. My family loved every minute of our time there.

Awesome home and great experience!

This was by far the nicest home I’ve stayed in over the course of my many trips to Lake Placid. The house is beautiful, immaculate and fully stocked. Check-in and check-out was simple and efficient and we were provided plenty of information to make our stay enjoyable. I would highly recommend!

Camp Karibu was amazing. This house has everything one could need or want. It is spotless and very comfortable. We enjoyed our time together in this wonderful place. We skied, walked, shopped and did local touristy things. Everyone can't wait to go back!!

Long Weekend Getaway

We had an excellent stay at this Adirondack home! The owner was incredibly communicative and prompt, making the entire experience seamless from start to finish. The home was just as pictured – spacious with plenty of comfortable areas to relax, play games, and enjoy meals together. The open views across the golf course towards the mountains were absolutely breathtaking. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to unwind and take in the beauty of the area. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and comfortable house with the perfect location to town

The house is beautiful inside and out! It is well appointed with both kitchen amenities as well as bathroom toiletries etc. there is the perfect amount of room for several families to spread out but still be able to gather for meals games etc. Megan is a wonderful and attentive host. We will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful house in a fabulous location

My family of 5 loved this house! Everything was perfect. My teens loved the game room, the ping pong table was a huge hit. The kitchen was stocked with spices and cleaning supplies. The location of the house might have been the best part. We were a short walk to Main Street and Mirror Lake Drive. We had an amazing trip and hope to book this house again.

It doesn't get more perfect!

This house was amazing. We had family and a few teens with us and the kids enjoyed walking to town and having their own space to get away in the basement. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. The view is amazing and the owners were responsive to every question. We've rented many houses in the past, and this, was by far, the best house we've rented. There is so much to do in this area, we were all sad to leave.

Camp GMB meets Camp Karibu

The description of this house does not do it justice. It was everything and more. Absolutely beautiful property and home. The owners thought of everything. The views were beautiful, the outside beautifully lit with Christmas lights. Three floors with enough bathrooms for 13 women 35-40 years old. I can’t begin to tell you how refreshing the steam shower was…. We were sad to leave and are hoping to return back to this house again. Thank you for hosting us!

The BEST of Lake Placid!!

WOW!!! Camp Karibu is one of the best homes in Lake Placid! We travel each fall with our family of ten and have tried a number of rentals in the area. The family has gone the extra mile to ensure their guests are comfortable. While the weekend was rainy, we spent a lot of time drinking coffee and sitting in the cozy reading nook. When the sun finally appeared, we were taken with the stunning views! The family loved being able to walk out the door to golf or walk around the lake. We were impressed with the well-appointed kitchen and amenities. The owner took time to talk through our questions in advance and checked in during our stay. We loved the home so much that we booked it again for our winter trip. Thank you Megan and family for your hospitality. We look forward to our next visit!

Wonderful home! It was well appointed, and the location was great-walking distance to downtown and the Olympic Museum.Megan and Scott thought of everything we could’ve needed, and they were a pleasure to deal with.We enjoyed the fire pit, cooked one night on the grill, and played board games, ping pong, and foosball.The only reason I put in 4 stars on the location rating is because VRBO wouldn’t let me proceed with 5 stars in that category for some reason.Everyone slept well and had a great time. We hope to go back to Lake Placid and this home again.
