Feeding a giraffe from the deck off my room at Giraffe Manor in Nairobi last October. It has been a pretty rough week but remembering this experience still brings a smile to my face, I blog about my travels at Circlingthebucketlist.com .
Yesterday I saw Time magazine had listed its 100 places to go in 2018 and I feel incredibly lucky to have been to two of them. The first is Giraffe manor and here is a picture from my breakfast table. When a tiny new-born elephant is orphaned, it is often because its mother and family have been killed to serve the brutal ivory trade. For an elephant, family is all important; a calf’s very existence depends upon its mother’s milk for the first two years. In Kenya an Elephant Nursery exists nestled within Nairobi National Park under the auspices of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which is overseen by Dr Dame Daphne Sheldrick, whose elephant experience spans a lifetime. This pioneering organisation, which works in partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service offers hope for any orphaned elephant fortunate enough to be found alive.
Outstanding place to visit really is, if you ever get chance to go take it the workers are really helpful just be aware of the baboons as they will try and steal your glasses or food. 😂😂

Pool and garden area lovely to use and very clean. Some refurbishment work was being done but did not really cause an impact. Staff ver friendly and helpful. Food offerings very good and prices reasonable for a hotel. Easy to arrange transport back to the airport.
