"This was a fantastic place to stay in Kihei. The air conditioning worked exceptionally well, and the grounds were very well maintained. The ocean was only a short walk away, and my wife often spent most of her days relaxing on the beach.The pool was one of the highlights of our stay and was used daily by our family. Our son has sensitive skin, but he experienced no issues with the pool water, which was a pleasant surprise.If I were to note one minor drawback, it would be that the kitchen was a bit limited in terms of dishware. While not a major issue, we did find ourselves needing to run the dishwasher daily to ensure we had enough cups and dishes for the following day."

"Our stay at Kauhale Makai was good. The unit itself was nicely furnished with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Our lanai had a great view of the ocean, the pali, and the island of Lanai. We were able to spot whales with the provided binoculars. There were several issues with the property due the Kona Low storms. First there was no elevator service because of the flooding. This was only an issue because we were on the 5th floor and don't have great knees. Next the pool was closed for the duration of our stay. This was disappointing as we were unable to swim or play in the ocean due to the poor sea conditions. Lastly we had no communication with staff. The office was closed for the duration of our stay. We were unable to officially check in and received no communication regarding property status or local conditions. We understand that the conditions caused by the weather took things out of your hands, but a little communication would have gone a long way. Overall we had a good visit and would stay at Kauhale Makai again."

"We stayed with valley isle properties during the severe storms and flooding in Maui. While we lost power for over 48 hours, the property is clean and offered direct access to the beach. Despite the unfortunate timing of the weather, I will absolutely book with them again. Since we hadn’t planned on cooking on our vacation and were unable to reach the store due to the flooding, the property manager Kirsten went above and beyond-she had an employee trek through three feet of water to bring us essential food items and candles. Kirsten and Carol maintained constant communication and relocated us to an unaffected property as soon as we can safety leave. Their dedication to their guests is unmatched. "

"Our stay was very nice! This is definitely a motel and not a hotel, but we were very comfortable. The pool was full of plant debris and the hot tub was cold, so we did not use those unfortunately. It was very nice to have beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas provided! The shower towels provided were the cheapest, thinnest, smallest towels I have ever been provided; consider bringing your own! House cleaning was advertised, but it was cancelled over half the time due to staff shortages. This was very disappointing as we stayed for awhile and it was very difficult to keep the sandiness under control after spending the day at the beach. The beach across the street was incredible! We loved being able to just walk across the street and watch the sunset!"
