The Cedar Motel

10/10 Excellent

"When we checked in, the owner told us the Queen bed room was tiny. We were okay with that. We loved the location; out of the city in a quiet community. The bay view in front of the motel was great. Geese were all alongside the road. We could see a train and its drawbridge across the bay. We enjoyed sitting in chairs in front and talking to people in the neighboring rooms. We were offered snacks and soft drinks when we checked in. There was no breakfast, but we knew that in advance. We had coffee, a refrigerator and microwave in the room. There were a couple of restaurants within walking distance. We were about 8 miles away from the Goodtime I cruise dock and the ferry dock which goes to nearby islands and Lake Erie cruises. About 10 miles from Walmart, Sam's Club and lots of restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and talked to others who were repeat customers at The Cedar Motel. It's not like a fancy hotel, but has a much better atmosphere."

"While we only stayed one night, all 6 in our party really enjoyed the hotel. We rented a suite with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a kitchen and a living area. Aside from a couple small tears in the carpet and a couch that could use an update, it was more than we could have asked for. Beds were super comfy, the hotel was clean and all of the staff were super friendly. The area felt safe and was conveniently located near a gas station and highway entrance. Nice selection for breakfast, but only one meat choice. The only thing that could have made the suite better was a cardtable and chairs to sit around. Would definitely stay here again!"

"The coffee is amazing, it's part of the reason we went back. The view from the deck by the lake and the pool is beautiful. The shower in our room drained so slow as did the bathroom sink. Things to know- They are listed as cash accepted on the listing but they do not accept cash on premises. There is also a $100 refundable incidental fee that was not included in what we paid last year. Overall we like the place but there are some things that could be fixed and updated. "
