Queen Charlotte Secret Oasis, Marlborough Sounds.
Modern and comfortable three bedroom cottage with all amenities including Wi Fi. Open plan living and car port plus outside BBQ. The pictures speak louder than words. large mature trees and gardens with a fruit and nut Orchard.
All the comforts of home in a rural setting yet only 500 metres from the local store and petrol station. The Queen Charlotte Tavern is also available if you don't feel like cooking or the fishing wasn't really that good !! Wake to birdsong and Wekas [NZ flightless birds, no dogs please] at your kitchen door, plan your day....bring your boat or kayak if you have one and park it in your own driveway.
The slightly elevated site has water views over the Mahakipawa Arm of The Pelorus Sound but it is also within easy reach [8mins] of the Grove arm of the Queen Charlotte Sound. The location is strategic to both Sounds but also within easy reach of the vineyards of Marlborough for a Cellar Door tasting or lunch. Proximity to Picton also makes it possible for a day trip to the Capital via the Tory Channel. The local town of Blenheim has all the usual retail outlets and even a theatre.
Havelock is the nearest small town is noted as 'The Green Lipped Mussel capital of the World' It has numerous coffee shops and cafes plus a large modern marina where you can launch your boat at any stage of the tide, why not take a trip on the Pelorus Sound mailboat? The house is also well situated for a visit by boat to the several lodges sited by the waters edge of both Sounds....some only accessible by water.
There are two houses on the property, one occupied by the owner who lives most of the summer at the property in the event you should need assistance. The cottage is situated on half an acre so there is a lot of space for everyone and your privacy will be respected at all times.

The host was very proactive in messaging us, welcoming us and verifying that we had information about the house and the location. We loved the peace, quiet, fruit trees, cows and easy proximity to the Sounds, the bays and the Qyeen Charlotte track.
The cottage was comfy, cozy, and well equipped. Hosts were great - even hand delivered a cheese grater! And the pub a short walk down the road is a great time.
A prime location too explore the Sounds being within a comfortable distance of not only the Sounds itself but also Nelson and Blenhium and surrounding areas ,Highly recommended .
Nice and well equipped large house in a beautiful garden and surroundings
We spent 5 nights in the house and enjoyed our stay tremendously. The house is perfect for a family of up to 6 people, the garden is beautiful, we had all our meals outside, it was quiet, not noise from the street. I would always come back. Perfect location for hiking, biking and boat excursions. John was a perfect host, answered all our questions before we arrived.

We had a lovely stay here close to Picton, Nelson and Blenheim. A beautiful area and a lovely little cottage. Comfortable beds, lounges and dining table. None of the following comments are complaints but it might be helpful to be aware the internet is patchy, the stairs are unusual and steep, the upstairs bedrooms are not fully enclosed and can get warm, the bathroom has doors to both the main bedroom and the living area which requires a system for privacy and there are sand flies. We enjoyed the local pub, eating mussels at Havelock and our favourite restaurant in the ones we visited in the whole of New Zealand was 'The Fancy Cow'.
Nice spot to get away from it all. The listing is accurate. The Link Pathway cycle/walking track runs right outside the property and you can go quite a distance in either direction.
Tip: To get the key-box code you need to log in to bookabach. While the emails say you will be "sent" the code, it doesn't actually get sent, just becomes visible in bookabach.
Lovely peaceful setting amongst the bush and birds, close enough to family in Anikiwa and friends in Ngkuta with a haven to return to after a busy day. Our host were great, obliging and helpful, we will definitely return to this peaceful cottage with beautiful Hydrangeas my favorite flowers.
Our family really enjoyed staying in this holiday home. It is a very warm comfortable clean home, great to come back to after a day out exploring and fishing. The garden setting is very quiet peaceful and relaxing. Excellent communication from the host.
We had a great 3 days in this lovely cottage in the Marlborough Sounds. The beautiful setting, good facilities and some nice welcoming touches made it the perfect place to start our South Island road trip. Thank you very much.
Thanks for sharing your property with us, handy location to all Sounds, Havelock, Nelson and Picton.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time fishing, skiing and swimming!!
Lunch at Te Rawa and Mussel Pot are definitely on list for next time!
Thank you John, was fantastic ☀️
Lovely property with large garden, surrounded by sheep and cows, to the delight of my young boys! The property is close to a number of beaches and Queen Charlotte Track. It's worth checking for road closures in the area as access to some parts we had hoped to go was closed.
We had a lovely stay and appreciated the fast communication with the host
