The beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, impressive waterfalls and esteemed country clubs make this one of the most sought after communities in North Carolina.

Linville is a stunning mountain community in Avery County. Rolling mountains, breathtaking waterfalls and lavish country clubs are great reasons to visit this region. Play a round of golf, explore the natural wonders or simply relax in this scenic destination.

Take a relaxing drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, a scenic road over 400 miles (600 kilometres) long. The parkway runs through 120 miles (190 kilometres) of high country and features spectacular natural views. Stop at Linville Falls, one of the most remarkable waterfalls in North Carolina. Find the visitors centre and hike a trail leading to several viewpoints of the falls.

Visit Grandfather Mountain, one of the highest peaks in the Blue Ridge Mountains. At an elevation of almost 6,000 feet (1,800 metres), Grandfather Mountain is astounding. Walk the Mile High Swinging Bridge to appreciate the views. Discover the habitats of the native wildlife including river otters, deer, cougars and majestic bald eagles and visit the nature museum featuring exhibits on the region’s natural history.

See the mountains of western North Carolina at the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area. Admire the impressive rock formations with a variety of hiking trails available. Camp in one of the designated areas and enjoy fishing, rock climbing and hunting. Tee off at Linville Falls Golf Club, a high-end private club turned public golf course. The course on the north fork of the Catawba River is an essential visit for golfers and nature enthusiasts alike.

The golf courses are open late spring to early fall. Check for tee times before visiting. Linville is known for its luxurious lodges and country clubs, though you can appreciate the stunning region on a budget with many lodging options available. Explore many of the natural wonders for free in the national park and wilderness areas.

Drive about 2 hours from Charlotte to reach Linville. With an almost limitless number of stunning natural areas and activities available, Linville truly has something for every outdoor enthusiast.
